West Peak market development managers are responsible for representing & managing the wholesale market presence, brand awareness, product representation and sales at on and off-premise retail accounts, with distributor partners, and at festivals and events throughout their assigned territory. The market development manager assists by supporting existing customers and creating new customer relationships to increase overall brand awareness in their assigned territory and helping the sell through at retail. Representatives are energetic and team-oriented members with passion for premium spirits and the ability to build strong relationships.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Passionate about the CPG industry and RTD premium spirits
  • Minimum 2 years of outside sales experience, preferably in alcohol
  • Being knowledgeable of their respective territory and industry as a whole.
  • Support and promote West Peak’s mission and company culture
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative to meet sales and revenue goals. Effectively plan and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to maximize productivity.
  • Meet deadlines for sales targets, reports, and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Operate effectively within corporate and budgetary guidelines.
  • Performs administrative tasks as required including expense reports, work calendars, sales goals, etc.

 

Retail Market Management:

 

  • Drive sales volume and distribution in the assigned territory by identifying new accounts, up selling, and motivating retailers to prioritize West Peak Sparkling Spirits.
  • Achieve planned sales and distribution goals.
  • Increase overall sales, brand presence & awareness in assigned territory.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with management, retail sales staff, and bartenders in key accounts. Regularly visit clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Execute sell-through and merchandising initiatives for retail accounts to increase consumer trial and engagement.
  • Plan and execute on and off premise promotions as required.
  • Manage a small team of part-time brand ambassadors to assist in the execution of retail demos, festivals, and other sampling opportunities.
  • Introduce new marketing initiatives and implement promotions.
  • Maintain a consistent visitation schedule within the market, hitting target account list including chain and independent on and off premise accounts.
  • Track and monitor success of our products in all identified accounts within assigned territory.
  • Monitor inventory to maintain proper levels based on sales trends, promotions, new product introductions and our core & seasonal offerings as well as maintain our standard for quality products.

 

 

Skills, Physical & Mental Requirements:

 

  • Must have ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedules, as weekend and extended workdays are necessary in high seasons.
  • 95% of time spent actively selling to deliver distribution goals, rate of sale goals, volume goals, and quarterly priorities. 5% administrative.
  • Strong customer service skills and supportive, collaborative attitudes.
  • Positive attitude and ‘can do, get it done’ mentality on driving business.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds


The Market Manager is subject to inside and/or outside environmental conditions. Working tasting events or festivals will at times require employee to work outside in windy, hot, cold or wet conditions to some extent. At times employee will need to work in refrigerated areas such as beer caves and merchandising units. Employee will need to work around crowds and be able to deal with challenging situations involving people and their behaviors in a responsible, yet friendly manner.
