BREWING & CELLAR LEAD

DORCHESTER BREWING CO. is a Boston-based craft beer brewery and unique 9,000 square foot tap room dedicated to providing full service contract/partner brewing services with flexible packaging options, marketing support and warehousing to regional small and medium craft beer breweries. Our one-of-a-kind taproom also serves the craft beers made on-site and food from our in-house local restaurant, M&M BBQ. The Brewing/Cellar Lead at Dorchester Brewing Company is a junior leadership position primarily focused on assisting the Head Brewer in leading and administering the Brewing/Cellar team. Duties associated with the position include:

  • Leading daily production activities
  • Organizing and delegating daily tasks
  • Staff scheduling & staff training 
  • Other administrative & management duties as required

This position will additionally be expected to perform all regular production tasks associated with brewing and cellaring, including: 

  • Milling and mill operation
  • Brewing on both brewhouses (5bbl pilot system and 30bbl production system)
  • Cleaning and preparing fermentation vessels and brite tanks
  • Centrifuge operation
  • Dry hopping 
  • Taking and recording accurate observations
  • Other duties as required

What We’re Looking For:

In addition to relevant professional experience, our ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Brewing and/or production experience required
  • Good communication skills
  • A calm and steady disposition
  • Acute attention to detail
  • A comprehensive understanding of brewing and cellaring operations
  • The ability to prioritize, plan, and deploy resources effectively
  • Ability to lift 55lbs and move 150lbs (this role has significant physical requirements, and the Brewing/Cellar Lead must maintain adequate physical condition to perform their duties safely, effectively, and efficiently
  • Comfort handling hazardous chemicals in a safe manner and adherence to all safety and PPE protocols, including appropriate personal protective equipment
  • A positive and friendly attitude to their work and leadership with their coworkers, and willingness to extend their hours and adapt their schedule if necessary

Compensation

  • Salary is commensurate with experience
  • 50%+ contribution by DBco to health insurance
  • 15 days of PTO + 8 holidays
  • 401k with 4% company match
