For the past five years, Torch & Crown Brewing has steadily grown its brand across NYC through self-distribution, solidifying its position as one of the largest local breweries in the country's biggest market. We’ve built a robust foundation in sales and logistics, including our own internal technology platforms and a network of over 1,500 points of distribution thus far, and we’re now embarking on an exciting new chapter – the launch of Torch Distribution. Positioned to establish the premier boutique beverage distributor in NYC, we are seeking a dynamic Sales Director to spearhead our sales team and growth initiatives for this thrilling venture.

 

Position Overview

As Sales Director, this role entails overseeing the strategic direction and execution of our sales efforts, encompassing both the distribution of external brands and the promotion of the Torch & Crown brand. This position offers a distinctive opportunity to have a significant impact on the growth and success of our existing brewery, while also being instrumental in the early stages of a burgeoning distribution company in NYC. We are seeking an individual who is genuinely enthusiastic about taking charge and embracing the challenge of building something new.

 

Responsibilities:

Setting and Achieving Objectives:

  • Establish volume objectives for the Torch & Crown brand using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to maintain execution standards.
  • Develop and implement volume and profit objectives for the fiscal year, ensuring their attainment in the market.

Torch & Crown Brand Development:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans to drive Torch & Crown Brewing Company's brand growth.
  • Manage key accounts and cultivate relationships with on-premise and off-premise partners.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create impactful brand campaigns and promotions.
  • Monitor market trends and competition to identify new opportunities and areas for growth.

Analytics, Reporting, and Budgeting:

  • Monitor results through KPI tracking and other tools, providing profitability updates to leadership through periodic market recaps.
  • Update results and develop annual plans to ensure priority achievement.
  • Use data and analytics to track and analyze sales performance.
  • Develop and manage the sales budget for both distribution and brand sales, optimizing resource allocation to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

Collaboration and Relationship Building:

  • Collaborate with brand partners to establish and implement KPIs, focusing on market priorities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key retail and brand partners to promote seamless operations.
  • Coordinate and communicate initiatives across the company to ensure proper execution.

Sales Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue and distribution goals for full Torch Distribution portfolio.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop and implement field support strategies, including POS items and promotions.
  • Monitor market trends and competition to identify new opportunities and areas for growth.

Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a distribution sales team to optimize their performance in achieving sales objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment conducive to meeting goals and targets.
  • Hold weekly 1-to-1s with each direct report and develop customized plans for KPI achievement and career growth.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred; MBA is a plus)
  • Proven track record of success in sales leadership roles within the beverage distribution industry.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a sales team
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies
  • Key Account/Chain experience required
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Strong proficiency with technology relevant to the role
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office/Google Suite, specifically Excel/Sheets
  • Familiarity with CRMs (VIP, Encompass, etc.)
  • Aptitude for implementing technology to improve day-to-day operations
  • Knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
