7/29/2021 -- Chomping at the Bit Launch Event

Pony up to the bar for the launch of CHOMPING AT THE BIT IPA, a new beer inspired by horse racing

In a new brewery collaboration, Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association (PHRA) has joined forces with Philadelphia-based Urban Village Brewing Company to create a limited-edition CHOMPING AT THE BIT IPA — a slightly hazy IPA with tropical flavors. As part of the partnership, every six-pack sold will support efforts to ethically ensure the proper care, rehoming, and training of retired horses at Turning for Home, a nonprofit adoption program.

The official launch event for the release of CHOMPING AT THE BIT is open to the public and will showcase the new PA Preferred® beer, made with Pennsylvania malts from Deer Creek, and introduce horse racing to a new audience of fans in an engaging way. The new brew design, inspired by the track, provides an interactive way to pick your horse by picking the number on the can design.

CHOMPING AT THE BIT LAUNCH EVENT ACTIVITIES:

Chomping at the Bit Stakes — Attendees will have the opportunity to feel the thrill of the race and test their racing skills as they participate in Chomping at the Bit Stakes. With a $2 donation to Turning for Home, participants will have the opportunity to race two or three other contestants down the Urban Village straightaway on inflatable ponies for a chance to get their victory photo taken at the Chomping at the Bit Winner’s Circle Wall of Roses.

A Horse in a Bar — Engage and have photos taken onsite with Rainbow Valley, a retired racehorse receiving aftercare at Turning for Home. Purchase an Old Smoke Clothing Co. PHRA T-shirt for $32, with all proceeds going to Turning for Home.

Pony Up to The Bar — Guests can taste the collaborative new brew and learn about horse racing from Thoroughbred jockeys who will guest bartend from 6–7 p.m.

Rising Country Music Star — Enjoy a live performance from former “American Idol” contestant and Pennsylvania native, Nathan Merovich.

The launch event is open to the public. There are no entry fees; however, reservations are recommended by visiting urbanvillagebrewing.com/reservations.
