An annual celebration of low-alcohol (but high-flavor) craft beers.

The festival was originally developed as a celebration of low-gravity beers in an era of high-alcohol dominance. The aim of the event was to discourage the conflation of session beers with flavorlessness, and to definitively show that complexity of flavor and low-ABV were not mutually-exclusive in a craft beer context. Session Fest also provided the perfect opportunity for Eagle Rock Brewery (ERB) and Eagle Rock Public House (ERPH) staff to experience the brewing process by developing their own session beers.

Since its inception, Session Fest has evolved into a community-wide celebration of these classic low-ABV beers, and an exercise in experimentation. 2019’s event showcases two new traditions: ERB is opening the festival to other local craft breweries and their session brews (evidence of the newfound popularity of session beers in the rest of the craft beer community), and a portion of proceeds will be donated to the LA County Brewers Guild, a local nonprofit committed to representing Independent Brewers.

Food from ERPH will be available for purchase as part of the LA Times Food Bowl celebration, as well.
