Celebrating The Revival of Smuttynose Brewing Company
Six months into new ownership, Smuttynose hosts free Smuttoberfest music event

Hampton, New Hampshire — September marks the six month anniversary of Smuttynose’s transition to new ownership. Since the sale of the company, NH’s largest independent craft brewer has added in a new canning line, released four new Smuttlabs beers, three Smuttynose Sour beers, and shifted the focus at Hayseed Restaurant to feature a menu of BBQ meats.

Smuttoberfest will be staged at the sprawling 14 acre Hampton campus at Towle Farm. The festival mimics the German Oktoberfest tradition and is a culmination of all the hard work that the company has put forth over the past few months. It’s also an opportunity for employees and Smuttynose fans to celebrate the current growth trajectory. The company now has more than 70 employees and is regaining market share.

Smuttoberfest will take place Saturday, September 22nd from 12-6 pm. There will be three bands playing: Joppa Flatts, Red Tail Hawk, and Andrew Merzi. Food will be provided by Tuckaway Tavern and Butchery and Polish Prince Pierogi. Hayseed Restaurant will also be selling traditional German foods at the event such as pastrami sandwiches, bratwurst, and large soft pretzels.

Guests can enjoy two competitions at Smuttoberfest: a mustache competition and a stein holding competition. The latter will begin at 2:30pm, and will run until the last person drops his or her arm. The mustache competition will be judged on quality, creativity, and presentation and will begin at 3:45pm. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of both contests.

In addition to lawn games, food, an Oktoberfest themed photobooth, a kid’s corner (complete with bouncy house), and great music, there will be plenty of beer. Smuttynose will be pouring Finestkind IPA, Old Brown Dog Ale, Shoals Pale Ale, Blackberry Sour, Love Sexy Sour, Oktoberfest, and Pumpkin Ale.

For those who would like to skip the lines, there is a VIP ticket available for $25 that includes a commemorative 22-ounce stein, one beer pour, and a pretzel necklace to munch on during the event. There will be one beer tent that is also reserved for VIP ticket holders. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/smuttoberfest-vip-tickets-tickets-49739875306?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
