JOB TITLE: Brewer

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

REPORTS TO: Shift Lead Brewer

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Hourly


OVERVIEW

Brewer's on our team are responsible for making positive contributions to our team's culture and carrying out daily brewing and cellar duties meet the highest standards of safety and quality. These duties include but are not limited to: wort production, malt loading, yeast handling (prop/harvest/dump/pitch), dry-hopping, FV/BBT CIPs, centrifuge operation, malt organization and general brewery cleaning. 

Our Brewer's work closely and collaboratively with the Shift Leads and Head Brewer to build a highly productive and supportive culture among the brewing team. Great Central’s goal is to ensure continuous improvement and development of its team, the facility and all processes and YOU will play a key role in the execution of these long term goals. 


EXPECTATIONS

  • Communicate openly and candidly with your team and supervisors
  • Complete all brewing documentation during shift and ensure the digital brewing log is kept up to date (always within 24 hours of any activity)
  • Follow all brewing/cellar SOPs
  • Promote a safe and inclusive work environment
  • Carry out daily wort production and cellar activities
  • Keep malt warehouse organized and counted
  • Complete daily brewing, spinning, cleaning, receiving and other paperwork
  • Continue personal training to fully understand all brewhouse, centrifuge and cellar operations
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and a self-starting work mentality
  • Support planned and reactive maintenance when requested
  • Any other duties requested by the Shift Lead and Head Brewer


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Respect for coworkers, supervisors, and managers
  • A great attitude and passion for craft beer is required
  • 3-4+ years production brewing experience
  • Minimum of 2-years brewing on an automated brewhouse
  • Formal brewing education preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with all members of the GCBC Team
  • Must be able to follow SOP’s
  • Must be open and approachable
  • Solution oriented and problem solver
  • Ability to multi-task, be a team player or work independently 
  • Must be able to twist/turn and stand/walk on a continuous basis
  • Work on your feet for over eight hours at a time
  • Work in loud production environments (80+ db)
  • Work with chemicals of varying composition
  • Work in damp/wet areas
  • Ability to work all shifts, additional hours & weekends as necessary
