Join the Helderberg Brewery & Incubator for a workshop discussion on hops growing at the intermediate level, featuring Goris Passchier, Chad Meigs and Justin Riccobono.

Chad Meigs, from the Bineyard in Cazenovia will be the featured presenter. He will be presentbeer hopsing on a wide range of topics, from springtime field preparation, to weeding, managing pests, as well as harvesting and processing, with a variety of essential topics in between. Chad is currently working on becoming a regional hub for hops processing, hoping to serve as an “end to end” solution for growers looking for assistance at harvest and beyond. He is also working to further develop the hops marketplace in New York. Chad represents the next phase of growth in the Empire State’s beer-based agricultural sector.

10:15-11:15AM: Hop-Specific Fertilization Methods with Goris Passchier
Growth Products focuses on environmentally-friendly fertilizers for the farming industry. As smaller-scale hop farmers appear around the state, hop-focused growth management techniques are needed. Goris will focus on these specialized methods and speak about the unique challenges presented within the hops industry of New York.

11:15AM-1:00PM: Annual Overview: A Season by Season Examination of Critical Steps with Chad Meigs
Presentation will cover the highlights in the annual growing cycle for a novice to intermediate grower, including fertilization, pest control, harvesting and much more. Our panel of production-scale producers will offer counterpoints as necessary to show that different methods work for different farmers.

2:00-3:00PM: Marketing/Consultancy Presentation with Justin Riccobono
Hudson Valley Hops is a consulting group focused on growing the farming aspect of the craft beverage industry in New York. Justin will discuss marketing and selling local hops and the specialized nature of the craft beverage market in the state.
