2/15/2017 -- Florida Craft Beer Day

On Feb. 15th, Celebrate Florida Craft Beer Day by joining our Simultoast!

By proclamation of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, breweries from across the state are recognizing Wednesday, Feb. 15 2017, as Florida’s official Second Annual Craft Beer Day. Brewmasters Club, a Tampa-based tech startup and mobile app developer, led the original initiative in 2016 to commemorate a date that stands out in Bay area history.

On Feb. 15, 1897, the Sunshine State saw the opening of its first locally owned and operated brewery located in the heart of Ybor City. The Florida Brewing Company was the first brewery in the southeast and became the largest exporter of beer to Cuba in the U.S. It not only served to quench the thirsts of hundreds of local cigar rollers, but played host to Theodore Roosevelt and his Rough Riders to enjoy a celebratory beer following the Spanish-American War.

Brewmasters Club and J.J. Taylor Distributing Florida, Inc. have coordinated with the historic building’s current owner Dale Swope, in partnership with Swope, Rodante P.A., for a ceremony of unique dedication honoring Tampa’s great brewing tradition as well as more than 25 breweries from across the state of Florida who will be joining the festivities with an all new 7 p.m. virtual ‘toast’.
