FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Amrut® Distilleries Launches Amrut Kranthi Single Malt Whisky Celebrating India’s Single Malt Revolution

The first non-chill filtered single malt whisky produced in India, Kranthi represents Amrut’s Ongoing Spirit of Self Reliance and Ingenuity

NEW YORK, NY Sept. 2, 2026 — Amrut Distilleries, makers of India’s first and most celebrated single malts, introduces Kranthi Single Malt Whisky, the latest innovation designed specifically to celebrate the evolution of Indian single malt.

The first of its kind in India, Amrut Kranthi is bottled non-chill filtered at 40% ABV and aged in four distinct casks: new American, ex-bourbon, ex-madeira and ex-oloroso barrels, creating a fruit-forward, flavorful whisky with robust texture and creamy mouthfeel.  Amrut ages its spirits at over 3,000 feet above sea level in Bangaluru, India, where the warm tropical climate drives a remarkably fast maturation rate and a higher-than-average angel’s share, contributing to Amrut’s signature bold, tropical-style whiskies.  This hyper-aggressive tropical climate makes balancing a four cask maturation process somewhat challenging, a testament to Amrut’s deep technical expertise in whisky making built over decades of studying global whisky traditions, maturation science and flavor architecture.  “I wanted to create a single malt that was approachable for first time single malt drinkers, but also appealed to whisky aficionados,” says Amrut’s Master Distiller and COO Ashok Chokalingham. “Aging in ex-madeira and ex-oloroso barrels contributes to Kranthi’s fruit-forward profile, but provides just a whisper of that flavor, while still maintaining Amrut’s signature citrus backbone and savory notes with floral nuances.”  The choice to non-chill filter Kranthi Single Malt results in a cloudy, or “hazy” liquid, showcasing the team's prioritization of flavor over visual perfection, and signifies Amrut’s ongoing spirit of boldness, ingenuity, and questioning of industry norms.

Amrut Distilleries was founded in 1948 by J. N. Radhakrishna Jagdale in Bengaluru, India - at a time when great single malt whisky was almost exclusively associated with Scotland.  Radhakrishna had a vision to transform Indian whisky from a domestic curiosity into an internationally respected luxury category. Driven by an uncompromising commitment to quality, authenticity, and innovation, Amrut has since sold nearly 700,000 cases of whisky worldwide at an estimated value of $105 million. Most recently, as a testament to their ongoing commitment to continued growth and success, Amrut Distilleries named New York-based PM Spirits as their exclusive US Importer.  This journey reflects not just the growth of a business, but a profound shift in how the world perceives Indian craftsmanship and excellence — a legacy inspired first by Radhakrishna then by the vision of his son and successor, the late Neelakanta Rao Jagdale, known as the “Father of Indian Single Malt.”

Kranthi — a name that signifies revolution, awakening and the spirit of Indian self-reliance — carries the family legacy forward. Rakshit N. Jagdale, Neelakanta’s son and the managing director of Amrut Distilleries, suggests a confident nation cannot rely forever on borrowed symbols of prestige.  “The next chapter of global luxury will be shaped by Indian brands, Indian craftsmanship and Indian self-belief,” says Rakshit. “With Kranthi, we celebrate a revolution in mindset — the belief that when the world looks for the finest, it can look to India and to Amrut as a proud flag bearer of that new era.”  The launch is also a tribute to Rakshit’s father, whose vision, courage, and pioneering spirit laid the foundation for India’s single malt journey and became an inspiration to dream beyond boundaries.

Amrut Kranthi Single Malt Whisky (ABV 40%/SRP $39.99) Tasting Notes

NOSE

Expressive and fruit-forward. Aromas of tropical fruits emerge first, followed by layers of subtle floral nuances. A sweet citrus backbone reminiscent of pomelo adds freshness, while a delicate hint of coconut provides an intriguing aromatic lift.

TASTE

Vibrant and fruit-driven on entry, showing tropical fruit character supported by bright citrus tones. The mid-palate develops additional complexity with gentle tannins, creamy vanilla and a light dusting of spice. The texture is notably soft and rounded, giving the palate a smooth, creamy mouthfeel.

FINISH

Clean and refreshing with lingering sweet citrus notes and soft, well-integrated tannins that fade gracefully.

India’s Next Revolution: Setting the Global Standard for Single Malt. India’s modern journey has been shaped by revolutions that strengthened its self-reliance and elevated its global standing. The Green Revolution secured the nation’s food future, the White Revolution made India the world’s largest milk producer and the Space Revolution

showcased Indian scientific excellence on the global stage. Together, these movements transformed India from a dependent nation into a confident and capable global force.

Two decades ago, another quiet but significant revolution began — the Indian Single Malt Whisky Revolution.

At a time when Indians and the Indian diaspora are increasingly shaping global business, technology, science and culture, Kranthi reflects a deeper shift — more than seeking global validation, the tastemakers are now establishing global benchmarks. Kranthi celebrates Indian ingenuity and the belief that the next icons of global luxury will bear the mark of India.

More than a product launch, Kranthi is a tribute to Amrut’s defining milestones — its pioneering spirit, its evolution and the moments that placed Indian single malt on the global stage. Kranthi is crafted with consumers at heart. It’s a whisky designed to mark personal milestones, celebrate achievements, honor relationships and accompany new beginnings.

Imported by PM Spirits, Amrut Kranthi Single Malt Whisky is available at select retailers in New York, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Texas, Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey beginning in September, with more locations to follow.  To purchase Kranthi, bars, restaurants and retailers can reach out to their local PM Spirits distributor.

About Amrut Distilleries

Amrut Distilleries, founded in 1948 by the late Mr. Radhakrishna Jagdale in Bengaluru, India, is part of the NR Jagdale group. Amrut has grown into one of Karnataka’s leading industrial firms, boasting 1,600 employees and significant financial success. The global recognition of Amrut Fusion in 2009 catapulted Indian whisky into the international spotlight when Fusion became the world’s third-best whisky, marking a pivotal moment for the Indian single malt industry. This remarkable achievement of Fusion being named the “Crown Jewel of Indian Single Malts” is credited to the visionary “Father of Indian Single Malt,” Neelkanth Rao Jagdale, Amrut’s chairman and managing director, who spearheaded the wave of premiumization at Amrut and elevated Indian whisky to global acclaim. His pioneering efforts and dedication have transformed the perception of Indian whisky worldwide, setting new standards of quality and prestige. Amrut’s distinctive approach utilizes Indian barley and the country’s unique climate, which accelerates the whisky maturation process in oak barrels, creating a unique flavor profile. This innovation has made Amrut a key player in the global whisky industry, with its products highly esteemed by connoisseurs worldwide.

Imported by PM Spirits, Brooklyn, NY. Amrut Kranthi Indian Single Malt Whisky, 40% ABV. Please drink responsibly.
