Mother Earth Brewing Company Brings Home Silver at Great American Beer Festival

Vista, CA & Nampa, ID – October 14^th, 2024. Mother Earth added to its collection of hardware over the weekend – taking home a silver medal in one of the top two most prestigious beer competitions in the United States, the Great American Beer Festival, with their latest Japanese Lager – Wakumi.

Adding merit to the achievement, the award was earned in one of the competition’s most challenging categories, International Light Lager, and beat out 129 other entries through three rounds of judging.

“I’m really proud of our team. It really takes a village to make beers of this caliber and I think it showed this year at GABF. Sure, it starts with a great recipe, but it also takes a commitment to quality control on the QA and packaging side to ensure that the beer that makes it across states to the judging table is top notch. We feel like we always have a shot at a medal and that’s a testament to the workmanship and dedication of our brew-crew.”

Wakumi is currently only available on draft at Mother Earth’s tap rooms but that could change according to Marketing Director and Partner, Kamron Khannakhjavani:

“Certainly we’ve had a fantastic response from consumers and our wholesale partners alike, but right now Wakumi is going through its go-to-market paces to ensure that it’s ready for the public and that we can scale it. Obviously we love the liquid and we know the style has merit out there in the marketplace, but we need to make sure that there is room for ours on the shelf. For now we will continue to move it through our farm system, which is where we innovate, and move it up the ranks into something like our annual series, or a draft release to distribution, for example.”
