Anderson Valley Brewing Company Changes Course, Releases Seasonal Favorite “Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale” In the Fall

Following a April Fools Planning Meeting that Went too Far, Storied Brewery Nearly Released Fall Hornin’ in Springtime, Realized it was a Dumb Idea

September 17, 2024 – Boonville Calif. – Ah… fall. The footballs are flyin’, the corn is tall, and the pumpkin flavored things are back on shelves and menus, including Anderson Valley Brewing Company’s (AVBC) autumnal fan favorite, the Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale. But it was almost a different story…

“I had this great idea,” said Anderson Valley President and CEO Kevin McGee. ”Maybe release a pumpkin-flavored beer in the spring - just to be contrarian - but as it turns out there aren’t actually any pumpkins available in spring and there’s a reason that the flavors and the season connect so well so I was overruled by the marketing department. And the sales department. And the brewers. And really everyone else.” McGee continued “The important thing is that people love this beer, and they love it in the fall, so we’re not going to mess with that.” 

The marketing, sales, brewing and every other team couldn’t be reached for comment, but we also didn’t try that hard to get ahold of them because the situation is obvious. 

With a brilliant, deep copper hue and creamy beige-colored head, Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale has inviting aromas of caramelized malt and baking bread with highlights of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and seasonal spices. The pleasantly creamy mouthfeel and silky body embrace the sweet caramel flavors and tang of spices (with just a hint of hops) that ends in a smooth, round finish.

Fall Hornin’ has garnered a dedicated following over the years and has become one of Anderson Valley Brewing Company’s most sought-after seasonal releases. In limited quantities, Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale will be available in six-pack cans and on draft this autumn, appearing on shelves and at select retailers, bars, and restaurants across the country.
