Brew Talks San Francisco: Tom McCormick to Discuss California Craft Beer Legislation

Brewbound will travel to San Francisco next Wednesday, September 11, to host Brew Talks, a free educational and networking meetup for craft beer industry professionals.

The event, which will be hosted at Speakeasy & Lagers, will feature two panel discussions on the business of craft beer. Brewbound.com editor Chris Furnari will sit down with Tom McCormick, the executive director of the California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA), to discuss important legislative issues facing California’s craft brewers.

McCormick will review the changes to AB 647, California’s ‘growler bill,’ as well as future considerations for additional growler-sale policies. He’ll discuss the pros and cons of allowing both on-premise and off-premise retailers to sell to-go containers. Additionally, McCormick will provide a brief preview of the bills that the CCBA is considering sponsoring in 2014.

A second discussion on the strategies behind new package introductions will feature three Bay Area-based craft brewers. Those featured panelists will be announced in the coming days.
