Brewbound Session: The M&A Environment for Craft

Craig Farlie is also a certified beer server

Advising on the sale of a craft brewery requires more than just an understanding of financial statements. It takes an intimate knowledge of the beer landscape, the culture of craft beer and an appreciation for the brands and personalities behind craft companies.

That’s why Brewbound is pleased to announce that Craig Farlie, the managing director of Farlie Turner & Co., will be speaking on the financing environment for craft brewers at the upcoming Brewbound Session in Boston on May 29.

During his presentation, Farlie – a self-proclaimed “craft beer geek” — will tap into more than 20 years of corporate finance, management, private equity fundraising and mergers and acquisitions experience to provide a big-picture view of craft’s current financial climate.

Using recent craft acquisitions as case studies, Farlie will provide an investor’s perspective on the industry’s current deal environment while simultaneously explaining the challenges and opportunities that craft brewers will face when looking to sell their companies.

He’ll also provide an overview of the types of liquidity options available to craft brewers and offer a detailed look into the pros and cons of each route. Throughout the discussion, Farlie will explain the specific steps craft brewers can take to successfully manage their fast-growing businesses and prepare their companies for future liquidity.

Farlie Turner & Co. is a Florida-based investment firm that provides merger and acquisition advisory and financing services for mid-sized companies. It recently represented an early stage brewery in a capital raise and is actively pursuing deals in the craft beer space.

The Brewbound Session is a full-day conference for beer industry professionals. The event focuses on the strategic marketing, brand building and business development issues that most directly impact craft brewers. A variety of distribution, retail, investment and branding discussions are offered.

Brewbound Session attendees will have multiple opportunities to engage speakers, both during the moderated portions of the program and also during structured networking and sampling breaks.

Sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities are available. To learn more or for questions regarding registration, please contact Mike Vassallo at mvassallo@bevnet.com or by phone at 617-231-8827 to learn more.
