Distillery of Modern Art is seeking a Lead Packaging Operator to serve as the on-floor lead for spirits and RTD packaging operations. This is a hands-on production role with real authority and accountability for line setup, execution, quality, and documentation during packaging runs.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring co-packing work is executed accurately, compliantly, and on schedule. It is not a desk job.


Key Responsibilities

Packaging Line Operations

  • Set up, operate, CIP, tear down, and verify fillers, labelers, date coders, conveyors, and related equipment
  • Execute and verify brand- and SKU-specific changeovers
  • Perform line clearance and pre-run verification
  • Maintain efficient line speeds while meeting quality and safety standards

Quality, Accuracy & Documentation

  • Perform in-process QA/QC checks
  • Complete and verify batch records, label reconciliation, yield tracking, scrap/rework logs, and downtime documentation
  • Ensure lot traceability and regulatory compliance
  • Immediately identify and escalate deviations or errors

Team Leadership

  • Lead and direct packaging staff during runs
  • Train operators on equipment operation, quality standards, and documentation
  • Enforce safety, cleanliness, and operational discipline
  • Serve as the first escalation point during packaging operations

Equipment & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate larger repairs with management
  • Identify recurring downtime, error sources, or inefficiencies

Logistics & Material Movement

  • Operate company box truck as needed between DoMA and off-site warehouse locations
  • Load, secure, unload, and verify palletized goods
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure accurate transfers

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of beverage or liquid packaging experience
  • Experience with fillers, labelers, and SKU changeovers
  • Prior experience leading or training operators
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proven ability to complete production documentation accurately
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a box truck
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
