The Brewer is responsible for producing world class beer and ensuring every batch reflects the quality, creativity, and innovation that define 3 Sons. This role encompasses brewing, fermentation management, cellar operations, packaging, inventory control, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, sanitation, and production documentation.
Working alongside an experienced and talented brewing team, the Brewer will have the opportunity to brew a wide range of traditional and innovative beer styles, contribute to recipe development, and continuously expand their brewing knowledge and technical skills. This position offers hands on experience with advanced brewery equipment and processes, including centrifugation and flash pasteurization.

The Brewer is expected to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient brewery while ensuring every beer that leaves the facility meets the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations
· Perform preventative maintenance and detailed cleaning items on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as required and scheduled.
· Ensure all brewing areas and all brewery equipment including tanks, kegs, mill, counters,
equipment, sinks, supplies, packaging line, shelving, storage areas, brewhouse, tanks,
walls, floors, drains, mill room, fermenters, servers, kettle, HLT, mash tun, keg washer,
jockey boxes, party taps etc. are clean and comply with established sanitation standards,
personal hygiene, and health standards at all times.
· Make recommendations to supervisor for maintenance, repair and upkeep of facility and all equipment.
· Brew or assist with brewing beer in accordance with production schedule and
beer forecast, keeping aware of all scheduled items and changes, packaging numbers, calendar items.
· Assist with monitoring quality, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen measurement, action items, and additions of fermenting beers on
a daily basis, keeping accurate daily records and alerting the supervisor of anything out of spec.
· Perform and/or participate in all sensory evaluations and VDK testing prior to crashing of beers.
· Execute all QAQC SOPS to ensure finish products are up to 3 Son’s standards
· Harvest and propagate yeast as needed, counting and labeling all yeast at the time of harvest
· Labeling all packaged beer in accordance with federal and state law using appropriate keg collars, dates, batch codes etc.
· Monitoring carbonation levels in brite beer tanks and test for volumes of Co2 before packaging
· Complete general routine cleaning of kegs, brewhouse, tanks, walls, floors, drains, mill room, fermenters, servers, kettle, HLT, mash tun, keg washer, etc. per 3 Sons Brewing Co’s procedures.
· Produce and/or update SOPs for brewing equipment and procedures as assigned by Operations Manager
· Be responsible for maintaining all required paperwork and records including but not limited to brew logs, inventory sheets, packaging records, brew sheet uploads, and online packaging entry
· Receive orders with sign off of purchase order or notify the Operations Manager
· Represent 3 Sons Brewing at various events, festivals and promotions.
· Update water meter picture daily if opening
· Build Orders as communicated by the Sales Director on time, securely, and without damaged or missing items, as outlined in the order building SOP
Productivity & Improvement:
· Troubleshoot and report all equipment problems, violations or substandard practices to the Operations Manager
· Research and implement industry trends and compliance initiatives to evolve the brewery operations standards.
· Monitor and continuously improve brewing operations with regards to efficiency, cost reduction and profitability.
· Ensure compliance standards are consistently met or exceeded.
· Participate in Monthly production round tables and produce on-time SOP assignments, contribute to group discussions and work to continuously improve processes
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· A formal brewing education from a credited brewing program, College Degree in a related
technical field (Science or Engineering), or at least three years of experience in experience
in a Commercial Production Brewery; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
· Advanced knowledge of beer offerings and recipe development & brewing practices (flavors,
ingredients, etc.)
· Ability to earn forklift certification within the first week of employment
Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
· This position requires the regular use of a computer, printer, calculator, keg washer, forklift, centrifugal pumps, electrical heating, pasteurizer, centrifuge, equipment, digital and analog scales, grain mill, hydrometer, refractometer, industrial brewing and lab equipment, as well as handling pressurized gases.
· Computer Software: Ollie Ops and Order (or comparable ERP and warehouse management software), Beer Smith, Zoho Suite, Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Google Calendar and Forms, 7 Shifts.
· The ability to drive a non-endorsement required box truck (20’) for movements of beer and supplies short distances of less than 25 miles required.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift 55 lbs. from ground to shoulder high.
- Lift 75 lbs. from ground to waist high and move 150 lbs. along the floor.
- Push pallets of spent grain, spent grain of various weights
- Climb stairs, ramps, and ladders.
- Work in small and confined spaces.
- Work safely with chemicals with reasonable safety accommodations.
- Work in a loud environment with basic safety accommodations.
- Read, write and calculate basic algebra.
- Follow safety guidelines and adhere to PPE standards.
