Mission: We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking brewer to join our team. This is a full time (9-5:30 M-F) job that contributes to Attaboy’s success by brewing high-quality, consistently crafted beer. As brewer, you will be brewing 2-3 times a week with cellar work on the other days. We operate a 10 BBL brewhouse with 4x20BBL FVs and 3x10BBL FVs that we fill and have a mobile vendor can for us every 5-6 weeks. We also have a 1.5 BBL pilot system that we use to fill 4x2BBL FVs - that’s the fun stuff. We just recently added the 3rd and 4th 2BBL FVs in an effort to keep trying new things and push our creativity. Ideal candidates will have 2 or more years of experience working in a brewery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Brew beer- generally 2-3 times per week
- Keep exacting notes on brewing data
- Perform basic sensory analysis of beers and raw ingredients throughout fermentation and packaging
- Clean kegs
- Make carbonated water
- Hard cider production
- “Brew” hard seltzer
- Fill kegs & barrels
- Follow cleaning procedures as directed (SOP’s)
- Clean draft lines, faucets and couplers
- Scrub floors and fermentors
- Clean windows between Taproom and Brewery
- Take out trash, break down boxes
- Clean spent grain bins
- Sweep warehouse, maintain warehouse cleanliness
- 3 x yearly work on a Saturday for events (will be compensated)
- Crowler machine maintenance
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
- Maintains positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Anticipate needs and take on tasks as they come up
- Develops positive relationships with other staff members
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, be on your feet and active most of the day
- Forklift experienced
- TBD work around brewery & Attaboy Barrel House. This is a small operation, we all wear a lot of hats.
Position DOES NOT regularly include
- Brewing work outside of set schedule (owner will check gravities and any other extra tasks on weekends)
- Delivering kegs/cans
- Ordering raw materials
- Setting brew schedule
- Doing sales
Who are we? We are Brian and Carly Ogden. We started the brewery about 10 years ago. I (Brian) started homebrewing when we met and soon dreamt of opening our own brewery. I worked at Heretic Brewing in Fairfield, CA and Carly worked for a design agency in San Francisco. I am responsible for all things in the brewery plus sales and distribution and am also the mediocre maintenance man. Carly handles all marketing, HR, staffing, our event space and general good vibes.
