Vermont Sales Specialist
The Vermont Sales Specialist plays a key role at the account level for Burlington Beer Co. Field Sales Specialists are responsible for developing, seeking, and maintaining relationships with on-premise and off-premise accounts, Distributor Personnel, and any point of contact who shares in our collective success throughout the entire state. This person will be passionate about Burlington Beer Company and uphold our values and image, while growing sales in Vermont.
Responsibilities:
The Vermont Sales Specialist is on the frontline and personifies Burlington Beer Company, ultimately responsible for growing sales, and will be asked to:
- Make account calls to new and existing accounts, both on- and off-premises, to increase our visibility and develop lasting relationships.
- Averaging a minimum of 8-10 account visits each day.
- Maintain contact and relationships with key account decision-makers and influencers throughout the account base.
- Be an asset to distributor sales representatives (wholesaler is your #1 account). Help drive Burlington Beer sales within their account base and prioritize our brands in their account calls.
- Seek out merchandising and promotional opportunities at accounts to drive sales and visibility.
- Maintain open, consistent communication with the Burlington Beer Sales Director and distributor sales teams, including daily and weekly updates. Utilize VIP Karma notes to provide weekly territory visit recaps.
- Actively work toward achieving quarterly goals and developing sales objectives.
- Ability to use industry data tools (VIP reports) to analyze and develop weekly and monthly sales strategies.
- Monitor product freshness at the distributor and at accounts to ensure quality standards are upheld.
- Active participant in all company initiatives and marketing efforts.
- Develop an understanding of the assigned territory and adjust sales calls to maximize efficiency. 80/20 based selling strategy.
- Set up and participate in various account promotions, distributor work withs, staff/account trainings, store samplings, festivals, sporting events, beer dinners, tap takeovers, trivia nights, and other industry events monthly.
- Perform administrative tasks. They include, but are not limited to, expense reports, weekly Karma recaps, monthly calendar, VIP sales analysis, pulling event permits, COI insurance forms, etc.
- Create a weekly VIP Karma territory recap of account work and send to the distributor and the Burlington Beer Sales Director.
- Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Make account calls and conduct business within the Full Burlington Beer Vermont distribution footprint.
- Organize and maintain all event/tasting equipment, POS systems, and other sales/marketing support items.
- Attend monthly wholesaler planning meetings
- Develop a weekly territory visit plan and share it with the Burlington Beer Co. Sales Director
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Must be competitive, brand-loyal, and comfortable making both existing and cold calls.
- The role of Sales Specialist is not 9-5 pm. Must be flexible and willing to work nights and weekends.
- College degree preferred, with some understanding of the adult beverage industry, but previous craft beer sales experience is not a requirement. We will train the right candidate to join our dynamic sales team. Passion for the product and the industry is important.
- Proficient with Google apps, Microsoft Office, VIP (VT information processing) systems, and email.
- Strong public speaking, written, and analytical skills.
- 80% of work is in the field. With overnight travel possible.
- 20% of work is Administrative.
