Cinderlands Beer Co. · Pittsburgh, PA · Full-time

Cinderlands Beer Co. is hiring an energetic, diligent Sales Representative to grow our presence across Allegheny County — behind the bar and on the shelf — and to support our western Pennsylvania wholesale partner.

This is a role for someone who already knows the beer business. If you thrive on building authentic connections, love craft beer, and know how to turn relationships into taps and cases, we want to hear from you.

About Cinderlands Beer Co.

Cinderlands Beer Co. is a family-owned, independent craft brewery rooted in Pittsburgh, PA. We take pride in brewing award-winning beers that bring people together and strengthen our community. As a company, we're passionate about quality, innovation, and local partnerships — including collaborations with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. We're growing fast, and we're looking for someone who's ready to grow with us.

About the Role

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Sales Representative owns a book of both on-premise and off-premise accounts in Allegheny County — bars, restaurants, and venues alongside grocery, convenience, and beer distributors — and supports our western Pennsylvania wholesale partner.

Most of the book is self-distribution, which means you see the whole line from the first conversation to the delivered invoice. The job changes shape depending on the room you're in, so it takes someone who can communicate efficiently and effectively with a wide range of buyers, manage their own time, and execute a strong follow-through strategy.

The Weekly Cadence

We'll be direct about the pace, because it's the clearest picture of the job we can give you.

  • 55+ documented contacts a week. A contact is a visit, call, email, or text that moved an account forward — logged the same day it happens.
  • One activation a week, averaged across the quarter. Tastings, features, tap takeovers, staff trainings. You schedule them, and they're how our beer becomes easy for an account to sell.

If those numbers read as a normal week to you, you'll recognize this job. If they read as a stretch, this probably isn't the right fit right now.

What You'll Do

On-premise

  • Open new draft and package accounts, and grow the ones we already have
  • Build real relationships with owners, GMs, and beverage directors
  • Run tastings, features, tap takeovers, and staff trainings that make our beer easy to sell

Off-premise

  • Build and strengthen relationships with grocery stores, convenience stores, bottle shops, beer distributors, and other off-premise accounts
  • Manage chain placement execution for the long-term health of our set
  • Win new preferred placements and execute off-premise programming

Wholesale partner

  • Work closely with our western Pennsylvania wholesaler to provide sales support
  • Ride-withs, crew drives, and market visits that keep our brands in front of their reps

Across the territory

  • Grow volume in existing high-performing accounts while developing new business
  • Provide excellent customer service and a smooth connection to our fulfillment process
  • Regularly spend time in key accounts to ensure strong presence and brand growth
  • Keep an organized approach to scheduling, sales tracking, and account follow-ups
  • Represent Cinderlands at events, tastings, and industry gatherings
  • Collaborate with the marketing and production teams to align on sales campaigns, events, and brand promotion

What You'll Need

  • Two or more years of sales experience in the beer wholesaler or supplier tier. This is a requirement, not a preference. We aren't in a position to train someone up from the retail side right now — you should already understand how a distributor's book works, how a buyer decides, and how to open an account without being walked through it.
  • Working knowledge of Pennsylvania alcohol regulations and the three-tier system
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle
  • Comfort working from a phone and tablet — visit logging, order entry, and account records are part of the job, and we run the sales team on the data that comes out of them
  • Availability for nights and weekends to conduct activations
  • Must be 21 or older

Who We're Looking For

  • Magnetic personality — someone who genuinely enjoys talking to people and forming authentic connections
  • Energetic, diligent, and highly organized — strong follow-through and time management is a must
  • Self-motivated and goal-driven — able to work independently while aligning with company objectives
  • Comfortable in both rooms — the pitch that wins a Thursday-night beer bar is not the pitch that wins a chain reset, and you can make both
  • Passion for craft beer and the industry as a whole
  • Growth mindset — focused on learning, getting better every day, and an intrinsic expectation that more and better is always possible

How We Work

We work hard every day to sustain a healthy culture, and ours is specific enough to be worth describing before you apply.

We start from a point of trust and honesty. From there we disagree passionately about ideas, because the purpose of the argument is to take a problem apart and examine it from many angles. Once that discussion has happened and a decision is made, the whole team owns it — there's no snickering in the hall and no undermining a decision after it's made. We know we often decide with imperfect information and unknown outcomes, so we work hard at executing the strategy we agreed to, and we hold ourselves and each other accountable to keep that foundation of trust intact. When we come up short, we pick the effort apart and learn together. When we succeed, we celebrate together and reward it.

This role requires self-starting. You'll deal with uncertainty, work through complex variables, and develop the strategy and tactics for your own territory — sometimes against big, hairy questions. Ownership will come alongside you, but we won't handhold or dictate inside your areas of authority and responsibility.

Our expectation is that you handle the problems that arise and tell us about them before we hear it from someone else. Tell us what you're struggling with and how you think you can get through it, and we'll give you advice and support however we can — while leaving you the authority and the responsibility to do what you need to do.

Schedule and Travel

  • Full-time, exempt position; expect 40–50 hours per week
  • A flexible, largely self-directed schedule set by internal meetings, reporting requirements, buyer appointments, and in-market activations
  • Night and weekend availability expected for activations — these are yours to schedule
  • Occasional travel within western Pennsylvania to support our wholesale partner. Per diem and expenses provided.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus a quarterly bonus structure tied to volume sold
  • Health insurance with 50% of the premium covered by us for you, and 25% for a spouse and dependents, across any plan we offer; dental and vision available
  • Two weeks of paid vacation to start, growing with each year of service
  • Vehicle expenses covered, a monthly expense account for spending in your accounts, an annual apparel budget, and a company tablet
  • Free draft beer and four-packs to go, a monthly food credit at any of our three locations, and semi-annual merchandise credit
