Video: Doug Odell Discusses Company Growth Plans

Odell Brewing Double Black IPA

Odell Brewing Company will add yet another style to their lineup of four-packs this fall. The Mountain Standard Double Black IPA will join Isolation Ale and Double Pilsner in the company’s seasonal four-pack series.

It’s decisions such as these that are aiding in Odell’s continual ‘managed growth,’ said Founder Doug Odell.

“We look to gain our growth goals in existing markets through expanded offerings,” he said.

The company is up 13 percent YTD and according to Odell, that is ‘right where they want to be.’

“Our business philosophy is that we are a regional brewer,” he said. “We are in ten states right now and there are other states we are interested in entering. We have managed growth and we are okay with the 10-15 percent volume growth per year.”

In addition to the Double Black IPA offering, Odell said the company is currently experimenting on their pilot brewery with a session offering.

“We want it to defy the beer drinkers taste buds,” he said.

Odell is also currently planning to expand the brewhouse to be able to accommodate at least six brews per day – which means more Odell beer hitting existing and new markets in the near future.

The Double Black IPA checks in at 9.5 percent ABV and will officially be released the first week of November with a special tapping party at the brewery. It will remain in all 10 states that Odell products are sold until early spring of 2012. Suggested retail price is $10.99 per four-pack.
