BOSTON — Zajac, a Maine-based processing and packaging integrator, recently completed a seven-month project to design, fabricate, integrate and install equipment at Dorchester Brewing Company. Located in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, the new, state-of-the-art 25,000-square-foot partner brewing facility opened late last month and will serve up to 20 craft beers.

Currently, the craft beer industry is experiencing double-digit growth, and contract and partner brewers like Dorchester Brewing Company are playing a significant role in getting new brews into the hands of consumers. From design and engineering to construction and commissioning, Zajac designed and integrated high-quality heating, cooling and packaging systems for the brewery. As a result of their work together, Dorchester Brewing Company will be able to achieve superior repeatability and quality in its brewing and packaging processes.

“Our customers are craft brewers who rely on us to take their recipes and produce and package their beers with the highest level of precision and accuracy,” said Matt Malloy, CEO and co-founder of Dorchester Brewing Company. “Zajac’s superior design and equipment installation mean that we can offer greater efficiencies, capacity and quality control to our brewers.”

In addition to supporting the state-of-the-art brewing system overall, Zajac designed, fabricated and installed an innovative spent grain management system, located within the brewery walls, which can house up to five batches of spent grain, increasing the sustainability of Dorchester Brewing Company’s operations.

“Our team is passionate about the beer industry, and we’ve been working within it for more than 25 years. When Dorchester Brewing Company needed help building its brewery, the company knew we had the experience and expertise to develop an innovative and economical system that would benefit not only its operations, but its craft-beer clients as well,” said Laura Zajac, president of Zajac.
