Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale Already Hitting Shelves

Shipyard PumpkinheadPORTLAND, ME — While most consumers were looking for lower-abv options to quench their thirst during the summer heat wave, Shipyard Brewing Co. was busy making over 20,000 barrels of their fall release, Pumpkinhead.

According to brewery spokesperson, Tami Kennedy, Shipyard begins brewing the beer in July, and continues to brew it all the way through October just to keep up with demand.

“Last year we sold 20,000 barrels and it’s growing strong,” she said. “We will be exceeding that number this year, but it’s too soon to tell exactly what the barrelage will be.”

And although Pumpkinhead is officially scheduled to hit shelves next week, many retailers have already begun putting it on display.

“It’s been cropping up on shelves here and there for the past couple of weeks,” said Kennedy.

Pumpkinhead will be available in 6-packs, 12-packs and draught. Retail price for 6-packs will range between $8.99 and $9.99 depending on location, 12-packs between $16.99 and $17.99. It is available while supplies last, usually through mid-November.

The Greatest Bar in Boston, MA will host a release party for the beer on August 18th at 5:30 PM.
