Half Moon Bay to Open Beer Garden for Brunch & Dogs

Half Moon Bay, Calif. — Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, a beloved destination known for its handcrafted beer, sustainable coastal cuisine and scenic outdoor patio, today announces two spring events in the Beer Garden. On Sunday, April 6, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company will be “Going to the Dogs” in honor of being named the Best Dog-Friendly Restaurant for the third year in a row in Bay Woof’sannual Beast of the Bay Competition. Then on Sunday, April 13, the Brewing Company will hold the next installment in its series of quarterly seasonal feasts, entitled “Spring Brunch in the Beer Garden.” This three-course brunch will feature spring produce, meat and eggs sourced from local farmers in San Mateo County, and will be paired with refreshing beer-infused mimosas, or “beermosas”.

Since opening in 2000, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company has been a dog-friendly gathering place on the San Mateo County Coast. In honor of once again being named the Best Dog-Friendly Restaurant in the Bay Area, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company will be hosting their second-annual “Going to the Dogs” fundraiser, benefiting the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA. Taking place on the heated, dog-friendly Mavericks Beer Garden onSunday, April 6, from 12—3 p.m., four-legged guests will be treated to house-made Mavericks Bones and professional pet photography while their human counterparts may partake in dog adoptions and enjoy live music along with the Brewing Company’s fresh coastal cuisine and house-brewed beers. Esteemed local photographer Diane Costello of Fog Dog Studios will be taking the professional dog photos ($20) and donating a portion of the proceeds to Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA.

Over the years, the Brewing Company has had the honor of partnering with various local farmers, cheesemakers and wine-makers, and in 2013 began honoring these local purveyors by hosting seasonal feasts once a quarter that feature the best of their bounty. Fall 2013’s Harvest Dinner featured Markegard Family meats and Harley Farms cheese alongside home-brewed beers, followed by a sold-out Wine vs. Beer Dinner with Hatcher Wines in January. Next in the lineup is a three-course Spring Brunch in the Beer Garden, which will feature farm fresh local eggs, strawberries, asparagus and artichokes alongside house-made chicken apple sausages and refreshing beer-infused “beermosas” or classic mimosas. The Spring Brunch will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, set to live music by solo guitarist Nic Adams. Afterwards guests are welcome to enjoy a complementary on-site brewery tour. $45 per person including choice of bottomless “beermosas or classic mimosas; Reservations are required, as space is limited.
