Catawba Brewing Releases 4 New Small Batch Beers

Morganton, NC — Catawba Brewing is now pouring a new Small BatchBock (5.5 percent ABV) at all locations. This deep mahogany lager is similar to a Märzen, but slightly more robust. It derives complexity from five specialty European malts. The beer has aromas and flavor notes of sweet caramel, bread crust, toasted nuts, and a hint of chocolate. It will be one of four German-style beers featured at the brewery’s Oktoberfest celebrations on September 30.

On Friday, September 22, Catawba rolls out two more specialty releases. Barrel-Aged King Don’s Pumpkin Ale (6.5% ABV) spent 12 months in Smooth Ambler bourbon barrels. Oak, vanilla, and bourbon blend perfectly with King Don’s pumpkin pie flavors. Another decadent dessert beer, Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout (5.7 percent ABV) arrives on the same day. It was aged on whole roasted WNC peanuts and crushed cacao beans from a local Asheville South Slope chocolate factory.

On Saturday, September 23, Catawba taps their new Friki Tiki Mango IPA (6.5 percent ABV). This is the fourth in a new monthly series of fruited IPAs. Brewed in 30-barrel batches at their Morganton production brewery, these specialty IPAs will see a draft-only roll-out throughout Catawba’s 5-state distribution area.
