Sonoma Cider Launches with Three Brands

Healdsburg, CA – Sonoma Cider announces the launch of its three craft organic hard ciders — the Hatchet, the Pitchfork, and the Anvil. Made from fresh apples and certified organic, Sonoma Ciders are available in 12 oz. four-packs ($10.99 SRP) and 22 oz. single bottles ($7.99 SRP) in select markets nationwide.

The company was founded in 2013 by 20-year veteran cider master and winemaker, David Cordtz, with his son, VP of Operations Robert Cordtz, and craft beverage guru Fred Einstein, our VP of Sales.

According to David Cordtz, a 20-year veteran of the wine and cider industries, “We are excited about the impressive growth in hard cider, and our ability to craft intriguing ciders that attract new consumers to the category. At Sonoma Cider, our unique process begins in organic orchards, which yield fewer and smaller apples with more concentrated flavors. We ferment fresh juice – never concentrate – in micro-batches to offer ciders that are intense yet balanced, fresh and bright. Finally we blend in our proprietary flavors for vivid complexity.” Cordtz developed his deep craft beverage pedigree at companies such as Fetzer, Schramsberg, Cordtz Brothers Cellars, Ace Cider, Vibranz Tea and Sonoma Sparkler.

Sonoma Ciders are certified USDA organic, made with all natural, gluten-free ingredients and distinctive proprietary flavors. The Hatchet blends sweet and tart apple varietals to ideal effect. The Pitchfork is apple based, infused with essence of pear. And the Anvil spikes apple cider with a measure of our barrel proof bourbon flavor.

The trio previewed Sonoma Cider in late September during this year’s National Beer Wholesales Association Convention in Las Vegas. Sonoma Cider is distributed by Melitas Beverage in Oregon; Louis Glunz Beers in Illinois; Cavalier in Indiana, Ohio and Florida; and Beer House Distributing in Kentucky. In Northern California, Eagle Distributing covers Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, and Marin counties, and North Coast Mercantile covers Humboldt and Der Norte counties. Sonoma Cider will celebrate the grand opening of its Tap Room at their ciderworks in Healdsburg, CA in spring 2014.
