San Diego, California — Coronado Brewing Company (CBC) is proud to announce its recent teaming with Manhattan Beer Distributors (MBD). Beginning August 19, 2013, MBD will provide beers spanning CBC’s entire portfolio throughout the State of New York. This pairing represents the coming together of two organizations with a tremendous amount of respect for what each brings to the table.
“We interviewed many wholesalers when determining who to entrust our beer to within MBD’s 14-county footprint,” says CBC President Rick Chapman. “After much research on the market and potential distribution partners, it was clear Manhattan Beer Distributors was, far and away, the best option for us”.
Echoes MBD Vice President of Craft, Wine and Spirits, Robert Mitchell, “Manhattan Beer Distributors is excited to add Coronado Brewing Company to our stable of brands. San Diego is a great craft beer market and Coronado is an excellent representation of all that city represents. We look forward to working to build this great West Coast brand in the Big Apple.”
CBC also recently inked a deal with Marine View Beverage (MVB) to distribute its beers in parts of Washington State where the company’s brews are not currently distributed. MVB will distribute to Washington counties adjacent to those serviced by Odom Corporation Wholesale Beverage Distributors, helping CBC reach more residents in the Evergreen State.
With the aforementioned additions, CBC beers are now distributed in 13 states and six countries. The company is currently in the process of securing distribution in numerous other foreign and domestic regions with a defined focus on Colorado and Texas as well as currently unreached portions of Northwestern states including Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington
Coming aboard to enhance CBC’s ability to get that increased amount of beer to current and future markets is newly hired National Sales Director Brandon Richards. Richards joins CBC after nine years spent working in sales and marketing capacities for Craft Brewers Alliance, most recently as its Southwest Regional Field Marketing Manager.
“Coronado Brewing Company is psyched about Brandon coming onboard as he brings a wealth of knowledge and structure to our sales team,” says Chapman.
Installation of a second 20,000-square-foot brewing facility in the City of San Diego’s Tecolote Canyon area in 2012 helped the company close the year having produced 8,000 barrels of beer. In 2013, CBC is on pace to produce more than 16,000 barrels. The addition of Richards, MBD and MVB will be integral to ensuring the company’s beer reaches its customers across the country and gets there as fresh as possible.
ABOUT CORONADO BREWING COMPANY: ABOUT CORONADO BREWING COMPANY:
In 1996, brothers Ron and Rick Chapman realized a long-time dream and got ahead of the craft brew curve in a big way, opening a brewpub in the heart of their hometown of Coronado. Back then, craft beer was still a foreign term and San Diego County was home to a mere handful of breweries, most of which were struggling to find their identity. The Chapman’s had no question about who they wanted to be. Their clear-cut mission was to celebrate their islander roots through the creation of exceptional beer. And with those noble ideals, Coronado Brewing Company was born.
In no time, CBC became the pride and joy of the Crown City behind an assortment of abundantly hoppy West Coast-style ales. That early success drove them to start distributing their beer outside the brewpub. They didn’t go far for their first sale, delivering a keg to historic hometown icon The Hotel Del Coronado. From there, slowly yet steadily, CBC’s fine, handcrafted beers trickled into the local market where they fast became favorites amid San Diego’s burgeoning beer scene.
Coronado Brewing sold 7,750 barrels in 2012 and forecasting 16,000 barrels for 2013.
