Position Summary:

The Canning Line Operator will work with a team of production staff to receive, transfer, carbonate, infuse, and can non-alcoholic beer, ready-to-drink sparkling waters, and teas. Operates with direct supervision from the Beverage Supervisor. This position will work alongside the packaging team in canning, racking, and various cellar tasks.

  • Operate canning line to package non-alcoholic beer, tea, and sparkling water according to SOP
  • Perform tasks with a focus on organization, sanitation, and safety
  • Ensure product is of the highest standard before and after packaging
  • Run routine inspections on equipment to ensure quality packaging and cleanliness
  • CIP brite tanks and hoses/pump in preparation for receiving beer in totes according to SOP
  • Purge brite tanks to under 10 ppb oxygen with Co2 and test with a gehaltemeter
  • Receive totes of non-alcoholic beer and transfer to brite tanks while maintaining sanitation and low oxygen pickup
  • Rinse empty totes for shipping
  • Carbonate beer and water in brite tanks according to SOP and test with a gehaltemeter 
  • CIP can-line according to SOP
  • CIP equipment for making and canning ready-to-drink sparkling waters and teas
  • Clean and maintain equipment including canning line, pasteurizer, gehaltemeter, videojet, flowmeter, steam tunnel, 4-head bottle filler, labeling machine, pumps, and CO2 lines
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Pasteurize beer using a flash pasteurizer
  • Batch and mix tea and sparkling water according to SOP
  • Rack beverages into flats for proper distribution
  • Effectively work and coordinate with the packaging team
  • Label products using an automatic labeler
  • Shrinkwrap bottles and cans using a steam tunnel
  • Package and palletize products
  • Monitor inventories of raw materials and finished goods with attention to long lead time items
  • Accurately keep records pertaining to tasks
  • Operate 3 head semi-auto keg washer
  • Maintain a clean work environment and organized warehouse
  • Ensure secure pallet packaging
  • Work with truck drivers to load and unload products in a safe and secure manner
  • Maintain all equipment and workspaces in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Maintain accurate inventory and raw materials and packaged goods
  • Record keeping and completion of cleaning logs
  • Assist in cross-departmental tasks as required
  • Additional duties as required

Experience, Education, Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in a production environment, preferably in a regulated field producing for human consumption
  • Brewery or canning line experience preferred
  • Experience with CODI canning line a plus
  • Strong mechanical understanding and skill
  • Must work safely with and around hazardous chemicals and equipment
  • Effectively problem-solve under pressure
  • Must regularly stand, sit, and kneel for extended periods of time
  • Must complete repetitive tasks, including leaning, bending, and twisting for extended periods of time
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
  • Experience and skills needed to accurately complete chemical titration tests, volume, flow, weight, pressure and other unit conversions 
  • Experience working safely with tanks and hoses under pressure
  • Forklift Certification a plus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:


This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Typical business hours are Monday through Friday, 5:30 am to 3:30 pm – occasional overtime, weekend and holiday work required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a production environment with a moderate amount of noise and activity. The work environment is fast-paced and demanding.  Physical Demands: This is a highly active role. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Consistently lift and carry 10 pounds and occasionally lift and carry 150 pounds to chest height
  • Use a pallet jack to transport items up to 2,000 pounds
  • Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, kneeling and reaching
  • Must be able to stand for the entire shift, up to ten hours
  • Consistently able to use repetitive hand and wrist motion
  • Work with hot, cold and hazardous equipment and material
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Must also have the ability to complete repetitive motions for the duration of the workday, including bending of wrists, twisting, grabbing, pushing, and pulling.

Travel: 

No travel.
