Job title: Territory Manager – Central-West
Location: Madison, WI
Reports to: Director of Sales – Billy DuPlanty
This is a full time, salaried, exempt. Exempt team members are expected to adhere to the standard hours and regular workweek of the department; however, exempt employees are also required to work any hours necessary to perform the duties of the job.
Grows sales, increase brand presence, and ensure product quality through key account calls, promotional events, and working with distributor sales personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop and maintain relationships with key buyers and decision makers in the territory both in the on and off premise for existing accounts while actively calling on new, non-buying accounts.
•Leads the implementation of YB initiatives in the territory as the point person for both distributors and retailers.
•Spend time in the field working the territory alone and with distributor representatives to drive sales volume and distribution in the territory by identifying new opportunities, active selling, and motivating distributor sales teams to prioritize the brand in their portfolio
•Ensure that the YB quality standards are clearly understood and enforced by distributors and retailers
• When needed, merchandise, organize, stock store shelving, coolers, and product displays to increase consumer trial and engagement, e.g., signs, strips, floor graphics, displays, and more
• Proactively identify and communicate any problems or potential issues to the responsible party whether with distribution partners, retailers or internal YB management.
•Rotate products in the backroom and on the shelf; keep back room stock in neat and orderly condition
•Use internal and external data collection systems to drive new business and amplify existing retailers.
•Attend all Sales and Team meetings as necessary.
•Represent YB at beer fests and other events such as brewery dinners, tastings, and promotions.
•Ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedules, as weekend and extended workdays are necessary.
• Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
•Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
•2 years selling beer of which 6 months are in the state of Wisconsin
•Extensive knowledge of craft beer in territory
•Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 lbs.
•Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.
•Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
•Using own vehicle, travel by car within the specific region is expected for this position.
IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Demonstrated knowledge of the three tier system
•Exceptional written and oral communication skills
•Demonstrated ability to build relationships and maintain effective working relationships with distributors, top level account decision makers, and all internal stakeholders
•Demonstrated knowledge of Google Drive applications
•Ability to work independently with little supervision – self motivated
•High level of craft beer product knowledge
•Excellent oral, analytical, written, and group presentation communication skills
•Strong organizational & planning skills
SALARY AND COMPENSATION:
•On target base earnings of $47,000 - 55,000/year based on experience
•Position is leveraged 80-20 with 80% of salary being guaranteed and 20% at risk w/ quarterly bonuses
