Position Description
McKenzie Brewing Company is a Eugene brewery with a history of excellent beer since 1991. Duties for the
brewer/cellarperson position include brewing, cellaring, and packaging tasks to meet weekly production goals. We
have two brewing facilities, a production facility and a brewpub. Brewers are responsible for the production and
upkeep in both locations.
Responsibilities
? Perform brew day tasks including, but not limited to milling, mashing, boil, wort transfer, yeast pitching,
etc.
? Package on Wild Goose canning line running both 12oz and 19.2oz cans
? Package on Maheen bottling machine, filling 22oz bottles
? Daily fermentation vessel and brite tank CIP with both manual and automatic systems.
? Follow inventory procedures for all raw materials and inventory counts.
? Keep solid records, physical and digital, on all brewing ops, packaging ops, and finished package.
? Tax reporting.
? Source and order materials and ingredients for brewing.
? General brewhouse cleaning, including floors, piping, tank exteriors, etc.
? Perform routine equipment maintenance and communicate any equipment issues.
? Assist with accepting deliveries and other warehousing operations.
? Work closely with the sales team to predict production needs, and to communicate about future seasonals
and one-offs.
? Collaborate with other brewers to tag-team big tasks and schedules.
? Kegging and other duties to fill orders.
? Evaluate ways to improve systems and schedules.
Qualifications & Requirements
? Formal brewing education or science background preferred, but not required.
? Must be able to work with minimal supervision but also work well with a team & adapt to changing work
priorities.
? Must be able to lift at least 55 lbs. sacks and full half kegs.
? Forklift certification is a big plus.
? Must be able to follow PPE protocol and handle dangerous chemicals safely.
? Must be comfortable on a ladder.
? Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet production goals.
? Must be adept to perform minor repairs on typical brewery equipment to keep things running.
? Have a solid grasp of the nuances of quality control, equipment upkeep, sanitation, and good brewing.
? Must be professional and highly communicative.
