What we want:

Hey there! We are Graft Cider, located in Newburgh, NY and we are recruiting for a Cider Operations Manager to join our production team. The Cider Operations Manager will be in charge of leading and organizing the production & packaging team as well as coordinating with logistics and management to meet goals. This role will also be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives throughout the cidery with the goals of improving efficiency, reducing cost of operations, and driving results to planned performance metrics in a safe production environment.


Job Tasks (include but not limited to):

  • Organize daily, weekly and monthly operations of production and packaging team to meet production goals

  • Lead team teams as well as develop and implement training procedures and SOPs for key processes

  • Work with our electronic record keeping system Ekos to track and organize team and labor and make sure processes are followed and recorded. 

  • Collect and analyze data gathered during production to help drive meaningful improvements to Key Performance Indicators

  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot problems as they arise in the production process

  • Implement industry best practices and safety across production, and packaging. 

  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and other documentation for a successful team

  • Work closely with the owner, sales, and the production team to plan and strategize weekly, monthly, yearly, and long-term goals 

  • Always be looking for ways to make improvements in all areas of the cidery

  • Work collaboratively to manage expansion of facilities as we continue to grow our capacity and flexibility of cider/wine products. 

  Skills

  • Comfortable utilizing computer systems, specifically Google Drive/ Google Docs/ Sheets/ G-Mail, Ekos(or other beverage production software) etc. 

  • Capable of receiving written/ oral instructions/ tasks, execute said tasks and if need be problem solve with minimal assistance. 

  • Flexibility to survive and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. (Which means being able to wear multiple hats; operate without highly structured processes; and consider no task too small nor too large.)

  • Can apply critical thinking, good sense, and courage to make decisions sometimes in the absence of data.

  • Mechanically Inclined 

  • Ability to handle a number of different projects simultaneously

  • Ability to meet deadlines 

  • Ability to delegate

Requirements:

  • (Minimum) Two years of beverage production in a managerial capacity such as beer/ cider/ wine/ carbonated water/ kombucha

  • Been closely involved in or lead a facility expansion and build out of 10,000bbls or larger facility

  • Ability to wear many hats when the job requires it, priority is to organize and lead but will still be expected to get there hands dirty and help out when needed on production and packaging.
