Job Title: Assistant Brewer

Reports To: Brewers

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

Summary: Responsible for cleaning tanks, kegging off, dry hopping, and fining by performing the following duties.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Adds ingredients, as directed, to the beer.*

     

  • Monitors beer temperature control.*

     

  • Completes dry hopping process.*

     

  • Fines the beer and ensures it’s ready for packing.*

     

  • Maintains cleanliness of all brewery equipment.*

     

  • Empties a tank of beer into kegs as necessary.*

     

  • Takes beer from fermenter and puts into bottles.

     

  • Inspects beer in the bottle to ensure it is clear, carbonated and passes tests.

     

  • Ensures proper amount of beer in each bottle and fills, tapes, and puts all cases on a pallet to be wrapped.

     

  • Dates pallet on day it was bottled.

     

  • Takes the pull slip from each pallet and counts to ensure the number of pallets that were done for the day is correct.

     

  • Completes preventative maintenance to the bottling/canning machine according to the maintenance schedule.

     

  • Ensures the machine is not running out of bottle caps/ lids.

     

  • Ensures taper has enough tape.

     

  • Cleans the bottling/canning machine after completion.

     

  • Empties a tank of beer into kegs as necessary.

     

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock.
