The Production Planner works with the Brewmaster and Head Brewer to execute the production administration responsibilities necessary for brewing world-class pFriem Family Brewers beer. The production planner will work closely with the Brewmaster, Head Brewer, and the operations team to ensure consistency with process and beer production goals. The position involves working collaboratively with the brewing, packaging, and quality control organizations to deliver the best beer that we can collectively aspire to. The successful candidate will have significant experience in the brewing industry, with a focus on brewery management, MRP/ERP systems, process and industrial controls, a strong knowledge of business processes, and people and performance management. This role is a key business partner to the operations and finance organizations and will serve as the key operational connection between the brewery and the rest of the company. As part of the brewery management team, the production planner will be expected to contribute significantly to the company’s continued growth and expansion initiatives.



  • Partner with the Head Brewer to create weekly labor schedules and a long-term labor strategy to meet company goals, dynamically changing sales forecasts, and the needs of our employees
  • Assist the Head Brewer in managing the production staff
  • Monitor and continuously improve brewing operations with regards to quality, efficiency, cost reduction, fulfillment, and profitability
  • Create and execute operational goals and objectives for the brewery that are tied to company strategy
  • With guidance from the Brewmaster and Head Brewer, work to develop world-class operational procedures and protocols and ensure they are being adhered to
  • Drive the forecasting of raw materials, and partner with operations counterparts to maintain inventory of materials and finished product; help manage hop and malt contracts
  • Work closely with the CFO and operations function to ensure the MRP system and supporting production schedules are always up to date and accurately reflect the demand for raw materials, and the supply of beer
  • Support the Head Brewer in maintaining and enrich brewery training programs to deliver a world class employee experience 
  • Work with brewery management to maintain brewing areas to ensure operations comply with company quality, sanitation, and safety standards, as well as Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Work with the Lab Manager to develop and review quality reports/statistics to ensure consistent production of high-quality beer
  • Work with Finance to review appropriate dashboards, and other performance data to measure productivity and achievement of budget
  • Support the brewery management team to ensure brewers have the right tools, knowledge and equipment required to do their jobs effectively and safely
  • Actively participate in the annual budget process including driving capital equipment needs of the brewery and identifying and executing on cost savings initiatives



  • Professional brewing and/or administration experience is required above all else
  • BA/BS in Chemistry, Biology, Business, Management, Operations, or Engineering is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive management experience, preferably in the professional brewing industry
  • Exceptional analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Competency in financial analysis and management
  • High attention to detail and excellent data analysis skills
  • Experience and knowledge of MRP systems, preferably Ekos Brewmaster
  • Excellent leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and motivate a team and maintain a positive morale in the workforce
  • Experience developing and mentoring employees, and building scaled training programs
  • Collaborative workstyle, and experience as a business partner to other functions in a brewery
  • Professional communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong planning & organizational skills with emphasis on execution, and follow through
  • A strong understanding of industrial automation, process control and statistics
  • An understanding of Laboratory Operations and Quality Control procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of industry compliance and safety standards
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to changing situations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds and maneuver 170 pounds
