Head brewer is responsible for all aspects of the beer production process and day to day operations of the brewery. This is a high level role which can involve many different tasks including managing other brewers, creating new types of beer, setting production goals and managing resources. Highly experienced with the beer brewing process and is ultimately responsible for the quality of our beer. Will be reporting directly to the Director of Brewery operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the production process and brewing conditions are correct, managing brewers and ensuring beer is meeting specific targets.
  • Record keeping and quality control
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the brewery
  • Develop new brewing recipes to meet market demand
  • Responsible for maintaining Occupational Health and Safety and compliance, plus meeting OSHA requirements
  • Managing key production requirements and setting KPI’s
  • Manage maintenance schedule

    Qualifications

  • At least 5 year’s experience in brewing beer
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a beer production line
  • Technical knowledge of the brewing process from recipe to beer! Including but not limited to brewing, fermentation, conditioning, racking, and proper cleaning and handling of product
  • Experience in a role that involved managing staff
  • Experience keeping records for quality control
  • Experience managing projects
  • Fantastic communication skills
  • Computer literately and technological skills
  • Education

  • Bachelors degree
  • -        Preferably in fermentation science, engineering, general science or related field

    -        Additional brewing education a plus

    Physical Requirements

  • Lift 55lbs from ground to shoulder height
  • Climb stairs, ramps and ladders, 
  • Work in small or confined spaces
  • Work safely with chemicals and utilize proper PPE
