JOB PURPOSE:

The Event Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and growth of public and private event programming at North Park Beer Company. This person will report to the General Management and they must be a highly-motivated self-starter who is able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The position will lead our private event programming, including the development of the program details (space fees, beverage minimums, sales process, etc.), the marketing plan, the approval process, and day-to-day execution of guest events. This person will also be responsible for helping orchestrate, organize, and execute public events, such as festivals, tastings, live entertainment, guest speakers, tournaments, and parties for our loyal patrons. This person must be a team player who is focused, detail-oriented,  well-organized, and capable of handling a variety of responsibilities while being committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience. This position requires on-site work in our taproom. Qualified candidates must believe in North Park Beer Company’s mission, vision, ethos, and share our high quality standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grow and optimize our year-round events programming, for both private and public events, ensuring success and profitability.

  • Continue development of our private events programming by frequently surveying the local market and revising pricing minimums and packages for all potential events spaces, notably our Mezzanine.

  • Facilitate introductions between prospective private event clients and our onsite food vendor, Mastiff Kitchen.

  • Work with Department Heads to continue refinement of our website workflow for event inquiries and integration of Gather Event Management Software.

  • Book and accommodate private guest events for up to 200 patrons.

  • Develop relationships with clients via email communications, phone calls, and in-person meetings. Be known for responding quickly to clients/prospects and for consistent follow-through.

  • Develop standards of practice for event related communications and review all details of upcoming events with Department Heads in weekly Stakeholders Meetings Disperse details to the team members who are staffing the events. Leverage the capabilities of Gather as much as possible.

  • Maintain and update all internal and public facing event calendars (Google Calendar, Facebook, and website).

  • Work with Creative Director to make periodic updates to the copy and graphic content of our client-facing event sales packet.

  • Take ownership of all functions to guarantee event success from beginning to end by working directly with other departments to determine staffing needs, coordinating with any vendors, updating digital beverage menus, establishing event decor, facilitation of any required event supplies (glassware, chairs, tables, linens, etc.), ensuring ample marketing, and generation of post-event financial reports. We are a team and you will have help, but you are responsible for ensuring that every event is successful. 

  • Manage client communication for payments; coordinate with the Accounting Department on invoicing and Accounts Receivables; send client reminders on Past Due payments.

  • Coordinate and facilitate proper cleaning, storage, and inventory of event supplies.

  • Develop process for post-event debriefing, assessment, and improvements.

  • Research and attend networking events to build relationships for client referral opportunities.

  • Handle any client concerns or issues promptly and courteously, looping in our General Manager as necessary.

  • Assist in day-to-day operational tasks when there are no events - including, but not limited to: cash handling, social media, website updates, onsite coverage, and FOH support to Management as needed.

  • Be collaborative, team-oriented, and interact with all levels of the Company in a professional manner.

  • Abide by and enforce Company policies, all applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Perform other tasks as needed.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application

  • Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check

  • Must be L.E.A.D. certified

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • A minimum of 2 years prior event management experience required

  • Proficiency of Google Suite (Sheets, Slides, Docs, Calendar, etc.) and/or Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and Social Media applications (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. etc.) required

  • Able to quickly learn and use Point of Sale system (Arryved)

  • Able to quickly learn and use Event Management platforms (Gather, Eventbrite, Brown Paper Tickets, etc.)

  • Strong background in craft beer focused events highly desired

  • Interest in craft beer and the craft beer industry preferred

  • Possesses strong communication and organizational skills

  • Possesses strong soft skills with a passion for meeting and interacting with new people

  • Detail-oriented, self-starter, with a high level of initiative and strong work ethic

  • Must adhere to company's policies and procedures

  • The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Up to 10% (local) travel time may be required

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Evening, holiday, and weekend availability required

  • Able to travel up to 10% of time for industry-related events

  • Able to develop a genuine passion for our brand and products

  • Able to work in an office setting and perform work on computer for extended periods of time

  • Able to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periods

  • Able to read, comprehend, and follow instructions written in English

  • Able to be active for prolonged periods of time

  • Able to regularly and safely maneuver, climb, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 55 pounds (such as 1/6 bbl kegs), maneuver items of any weight above 55 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance, move items weighing 165-pounds (such as full size ½ bbl kegs), using appropriate techniques and tools

  • Able to safely navigate the taproom, basement, and mezzanine, including crowded or cramped spaces

  • Able to move 165-pounds (such as full size ½ bbl kegs), using appropriate techniques and tools

  • Able to work in a beer manufacturing facility which at times may be loud, slick, humid, hot, and/or cold

  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery surfaces

  • Able to comply with and enforce all Company handbook policies and procedures as required
