Summary of Position
The Lead Brewer is the leader of the Crooked Hammock beer brand. They have oversight of brewing operations, quality, sales, and marketing of our beer. The Lead Brewer is leading the charge in the growth of our beer brand. Must Enjoy the ride!

Duties & Responsibilities: (not meant to be an exhaustive list and may change at any time, as business needs demand)
Leadership & Team Development
Build the Crooked Hammock brew team;
Oversee staffing decisions, orientation, performance management, training, safety and quality of the brewery operation across multiple locations;
Train others to brew delicious beer;
Develop brand manager(s) on growing the Crooked Hammock beer business;
Ensure team members have the right tools, knowledge and equipment required to do their jobs safely and effectively;
Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and disciplining brewery personnel, as appropriate, and in accordance with Company policies, rules, and procedures;
Oversee and ensure that restaurant policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis;
Collaborate with La Vida marketing team on training new Brand Manager(s);
Live the brand and be a brand ambassador.
Brew delicious beer that fits the Crooked Hammock brand;
Be an expert on all things brewery related;
Provide expert knowledge of the brewing process, recipe formulation, and ingredients with an ability to troubleshoot quality and production issues;
Ensure quality control - flavor profile, check, and taste all standard and one-off brews throughout the brewing, fermentation, and serving process;
Recipe Formulation, collaborating with Brewing Manager;
Continuous tweaking of recipes to ensure efficient usage of ingredients;
Monitor and continuously improve brewing operations with regards to safety, quality, efficiency, cost optimization and profitability;
Ensure control of beer cost by oversight of brewing, storing, and serving beer to company standards;
Check and maintain proper beer holding and serving temperature;
Provide expert knowledge and understanding of brewery equipment including maintenance and repair;
Implement new techniques or working of new equipment;
Maintain oversight of brewing scheduling;
Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner;
Communicate with distributor on retrieval of kegs, billing, etc. as well as preparation for distribution;
Attend all coordination meetings with management and General Manager to ensure clear communication on brewery operations;
Effectively communicate all brewery happenings with restaurant team and management;
Provide and update training materials to properly describe beers - “Beer 101”
Highlight areas in need of improvement to owners;
Make decisions in the best interest of the restaurant, brewery, and business at all times.
Sales & Marketing
Collaborate with Brand Manager(s) and La Vida marketing team on beer brand growth;
Work with Sales to schedule canning operations and needs, communicating with Brew Manager(s) and Brand Manager(s);
Be a liaison to distribution partners, including pricing and product information;
Engage, educate, and promote brewed products to restaurant guests and staff;
Represent brewery at tradeshows or beer festivals, as needed.
