Summary/Objective

The quality assurance manager position is responsible for all quality assurance in adherence with regulatory standards. The position supervises QA team.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and maintains all aspects of the laboratory. 
  • Continuously improves the Quality Management System through data collection and interpretation. 
  • As part of a group, will continuously improve and maintain the Food Safety Program. 
  • Monitors, maintains and continuously develops the Good Manufacturing Practices. 
  • Is responsible for keeping safety, quality, and other related items stocked for the brewery. 
  • Will maintain and improve all aspects of the yeast program. 
  • Directs, trains, supervises and delegates responsibilities to lab technicians. 
  • Provides technical support to Production Operations relating to product quality. 
  • Trains staff on all laboratory tasks when required. 
  • Monitors production for TTB compliance.

    Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining all aspects of a laboratory (Calibration of instrumentation, Media Prep, Plating Techniques, Interpretation of Micro results, Aseptic Technique, PCR, Environmental and Water Samples) 
  • Proficient in Instrumentation (pH meters, Dissolved Oxygen Meters, Spectrophotometry, Density Meters, autoclave, PCR) 
  • Strong knowledge of statistics. 
  • Excellent organizational skills. Keep Quality Assurance documents and specifications current.

    Supervisory Responsibility
    This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within department.

    Work Environment
    Must be able to work in a plant environment being exposed to dust, high noise levels, extreme temperature, humidity fluctuations, and wet operating work conditions. Able to work at a desk for extended periods of time doing analytical work or preparing reports on a computer. Typical conditions may include prolonged sitting, standing and walking.

    Physical Demands
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    Must be able to physically move throughout the facility including climbing multiple flights of stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and tight access areas. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
    This is a regular, full time position. 

    Travel
    No travel is required.

    Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific field such as Chemistry, Biology, Food Processing, Engineering, or an accredited brewing school.
  • At least 2 years brewery quality management or equivalent food and beverage quality management experience.
  • Must be a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) or have equivalent training.

    Must be 21 years of age

    Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening test

    Must complete online assessment

    Must have current driver license
