Heavy Seas Beer is looking for a full-time Field Sales Representative to join our crew to cover on-premise and off-premise accounts in the Tidewater & Richmond, VA market. The ideal candidate will be based in the Williamsburg/Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach area and have strong knowledge of the craft beer industry.

As a small company, each of the Heavy Seas sales staff is expected to wear a variety of hats, allowing them to gain experience in many areas of the industry and make a direct impact on the growth and success of our dynamic enterprise.

About the Position

Heavy Seas Field Sales Reps are responsible for maintaining and growing the Heavy Seas brand in their territory. They are the eyes and ears on the “street” and accomplish this by making daily account calls to bars, restaurants and stores to increase the availability and representation of Heavy Seas. Some distributor management duties are involved, including inventory maintenance, sales management and staff training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and help process orders from each distributor, as well as track their inventory and sales to retailers
  • Work alongside Distributor Sales Managers and Reps to increase our market distribution and sales in on and off premise accounts and develop/maintain relationships with key accounts
  • Organize, promote and implement promotions, tastings and displays in all types of accounts
  • Manage the territory T&E budget, as well as the individual distributor marketing budgets
  • Set and track quarterly and annual goals with distributors, including incentive programs
  • Schedule and perform distributor regular ride-withs on a monthly basis
  • Report activities and results in Karma Notes (CRM) and send follow-up reports to managers

  • Relevant experience preferred
  • Experience in the craft beer industry and with the three-tier distribution system preferred
  • Familiarity with the territory is required
  • Proficiency with computers, specifically Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to operate both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized with a very hectic schedule
  • Flexible and extended hours are required, including evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with social media

Other Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift 55 pounds, maneuver 175 pounds and perform other physically demanding duties
  • Ability to stay seated for extended periods of time, as well as ability to stand and move around for extended periods of time
  • Work environment has a moderate to loud noise level (moderate noise - office with printers and computers; loud noise – factory or manufacturing space)
