Overview: Birdsong Brewing is an independent, quality-focused, craft brewery in Charlotte, North Carolina in search of an experienced Sales Manager to optimize and grow our current North and South Carolina footprint. We are seeking a driven, customer-focused professional with beverage industry sales and management experience who will work with our team to develop and execute innovative and successful sales strategies. The Sales Manager will oversee several third party distributor relationships and a team of sales and market representatives. As part of that, this full time position will be responsible for driving sales strategy, managing inventory across multiple locations, creating and adhering to a budget, developing policies and procedures, and providing feedback, reporting and guidance to inform production and management. The ultimate goal of this role is to ensure customer satisfaction across 1000+ on-premise and off-premise retail accounts. The majority of the day-to-day operations involves time in the field overseeing key account relationships, distributors, and employee performance with the remainder of the time in the office handling administrative and other tasks.
Drive Sales. Participate in setting sales goals and strategy with executive team • Maintain relationships with distributors and chain accounts • Collect data on competitor products, market pricing, distribution logistics, and general market information and trends • Personally maintain select sales accounts and primary person responsible for meeting sales targets
Lead Team. Manage a customer focused sales team to achieve sales targets • Set individual sales goals and objectives • Train, motivate, and mentor each sales team member • Ensure sales team member meets targets and operates within budget • Responsible for hiring & talent management
Policies. Develop, document and implement sales policies and procedures, i.e. sales tracking, sales “stories”, sales/inventory team communications, ordering/travel policies, etc.
Reporting. Regular reporting of sales and KPI metrics to executive team
Process Improvement. Work with management team to identify improvements to other cross-functional company processes, i.e. inventory management, invoicing, marketing, etc.
Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in sales and/or marketing • Minimum 5 years experience in craft beer sales preferred • Minimum 2 years experience in management. Demonstrated success at managing and achieving goals. • Proven ability to manage a budget. • Exceptional communication, organization, and goal setting skills • Basic PC skills and Microsoft Office experience • Ability to travel throughout NC and SC as needed (25% overnight travel) • Ability to lift cases (30 lbs).
