Los Angeles Ale Works (LAAW) is seeking to hire an experienced full-time assistant brewer to join our growing team. Assistant brewers have a multitude of responsibilities both on and off site. As a member of the brew team you will be operating a sophisticated and sometimes dangerous commercial brewhouse. A commitment to personal and team safety must be observed at all times. You will be expected to operate as part of high-functioning, efficient, creative, and collaborative team.  

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

As a brewer your prime responsibilities will be on the production side of the facility. Focus on production related tasks must be observed at all times, however at certain times, you may be asked by the head brewer to assist in other areas.

  • Report to head brewer on a daily basis
  • Assist head brewer in assembling a prioritized production task list
  • Oversee and enforce prioritized production task list
  • Assist in daily/weekly brewing operations at Los Angeles Ale Works
  • Operating 10bbl - 3 Vessel brewhouse
  • Assist head brewer in managing a changing brew scheduling
  • Fermentation/Brite tank cleaning and maintenance - CIP
  • Assist head brewer with recipe formulation/development
  • Beer packaging - bottling/canning
  • Manage and assemble a regular equipment maintenance schedule
  • Inventory Management
  • Production facility and parts cleaning
  • Weekly status meetings with head brewer
  • Laboratory work and yeast analysis
  • Public appearances at events
  • Pouring beer at events and beer festivals
  • Beer tasting, off flavor detection, QC
  • Grain Milling - must be able to lift 50+ lbs bags of grain or other ingredients
  • Keg handling - must be able to lift 150+ kegs
