Smog City Brewing Co is seeking a FULL TIME DIRECTOR OF SALES & DISTRIBUTION to join our team in Torrance, CA

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to join a passionate and growing team. Sales experience is required.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Oversee development and execution of Smog City sales goals across all distribution channels

  • Spearhead annual sales goal setting with Smog City Management

  • Work with Smog City Management and distributors on yearly sales projections and inventory management

  • Conduct sales meetings and tastings with retailers

  • Maintain existing relationships and build new relationships with key accounts and decision makers

  • Educate retailer staff regarding our brands and products and find opportunities to sell-in new products

  • Work with distributors and sales reps on new beer releases and coordinate roll-out into the market through allocations and strategic placements/events

  • Oversee quality control in the marketplace including on- and off-premise accounts

  • Provide distributors and accounts with marketing and sales materials

  • Maintain distributor Brand Folder and assets

  • Utilize distribution database portals to identify market opportunities, review sales and gain business through sales insights

  • Work directly with distributor management on rep accountability, communication and follow-through

  • Continually evaluate efficiencies in existing Smog City systems and attempt to improve any weaknesses in communication or oversight of distribution

  • Follow all SOPs regarding paperwork and documentation

  • Grow and manage Smog City sales team

  • Oversee Smog City self distribution of special releases

  • Participate in beer festivals and events as needed

  • Work special Smog City events (including in taprooms) as needed



Necessary Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organization and tracking skills

  • Must be able to multitask!

  • Ability to work independently and use your time efficiently

  • Knowledge of the brewing process a plus!

  • Excellent beer knowledge, with the ability to communicate it effectively

  • Great management skills, motivate through consistency, reliability, positivity and potential

  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Be able to collaborate with the team and have a strong desire to help grow Smog City

  • Communicate clearly and concisely with respect to all personnel at all levels, in addition to customers

  • Must be able & willing to work early morning, daytime, evening and/or weekends

  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs. repeatedly and maneuver at least 165 lb. containers safely




Education/Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional sales experience preferably at a commercial brewery packaging at least 3,500 BBLs per year.
