We are seeking an experienced head brewer to join our team.  Must have the desire and ambition to succeed, combined with knowledge, passion and creativity for the art of brewing.  As a company, we share a willingness to adapt and grow with the ever changing beer world and expect our head brewer to use all of these skills to take us to the next level. We operate with a 10 barrel brewhouse and have distribution in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey. Fun, excitement, and taking pride in each brew are non-negotiable traits.

Duties and Responsibilites

  • Leading All brewing operations
  • CIP-Semi automatic cleaning of fermenters and brew house through the use of  hot water and chemicals running through a pump up to a spray ball inside the tank
  • Maintain a high standard in cleanilness and sterizalition in brewery
  • Keep a standard compliance to the highest level with food and occupational health and safety standards
  • Add ingredients to beer post fermentation
  • Managing raw material inventories
  • Developing and implementing recipes
  • Yeast handling and propagation
  • Recording daily brewing details
  • Maintaining sanitary practices in all ascepts of the production process
  • Preparation, Filling, and Transfer of beer from different types of spirit barrels
  • Best practice in transferring, carbonating, kegging and packaging beer
  • Asssit with quality assurance activities and monitor progress of beers through measurements and data recording
  • Operating filter for different brews
  • Assist in keeping taproom draft lines clean
  • Operating Wild goose 250. Up to 41 cans/minute. Manual depalletizer with Accumulation table. 
  • Operate Maheen labeler for 16oz cans
  • Operating fork lift, moving pallets of packaged product to different areas
  • Assisting with any other projects and essential work 
  • Conducting preventive maintanence on all brewery equipment
  • Being Special Guest at different events throughout the year
  • Working closely with and reporting directly to our owners on a weekly basis
  • Work with team and direct brewery staff
  • Perform taste panels
  • Standard Lab duties
  • Continually improve production process
  • Maintain a valid drivers license with no restrictions

Experience/Skills Desired

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a production brewery
  • Degree in Brewing Science or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Proven mechanical/electronics experience with beer production machinery
  • Operating Newlands 10 barrel non-automated brewhouse
  • Proven ability to create Standard Operating Procedures
  • Project management and equipment installation experience
  • Depth of knowledge of beer production, storage and packaging/canning
  • Excellent record-keeping, attention to detail and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and strong personal knowledge of the microbrewery industry and market
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 165 pounds
  • Flexible in schedule and duties, this is not always a 9 to 5 job
  • Ablitly to engage with surrounding brewery community
  • Folklift experience
