Job Summary

The Chain Sales Director is responsible for setting and executing the sales plan for chain accounts and coordinating the development and maintenance of corporate chain buyer relationships.  The Chain Sales Director leads, manages and holds the Chain Sales team accountable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action within the Chain department
  • Plan, develop, recommend, and implement changes to the Chain department
  • Create weekly schedules for the Chain Sales Administrators and review time clock for approval
  • Oversee and assist in selling ads, displays, and new points of distribution to chain and key account buyers and verifying contract pricing, preparing reports, and resolving turnback issues
  • Promote chain sales growth by establishing a sales call strategy for each Chain Sales Manager including call frequency, product, display and ad goals and expectations for each chain
  • Coordinate with the Portfolio, Sales and Marketing departments to set a sales plan for chain accounts
  • Maintain key chain corporate, supplier and account relationships
  • Coordinate with suppliers to call on chain corporate buyers
  • Prepare and deliver effective sales presentations
  • Ensure chain sales opportunities are executed properly by communicating inventory needs in a timely manner, notifying sales team what product should be sold at what time and tracking progress
  • Prepare and analyze department budget to identify budget needs and/or reductions
  • Manage product resets
  • Survey stores weekly for competitive pricing, service execution and ad execution
  • Organize special events for chains as needed
  • Attend product tastings, sales meetings, conferences and trade shows, as required
  • Stay up-to-date on new products and the changing needs of the market
  • Additional duties and responsibilities to be determined

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Sales and Business Marketing
  • Three to five years’ experience in management
  • Three to five years’ beverage/corporate chain sales experience
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Leadership skills to direct employees and oversee department operations
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with various types of people
  • Ability to coordinate processes and work well with various departments
  • Must possess superior communication, presentation and customer service skills
  • Decision-making skills to decide the best course of action, especially when impacting employees
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Self-starter, highly motivated with a high productivity level
  • Strong analytical skills and numeric ability
  • Advanced computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work varying hours to accommodate customer needs and special events
  • Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and follow through until completion
  • Desire to stay up-to-date on industry trends and product knowledge
  • Display confidence, confidentiality, reliability, persistence, composure and professionalism
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to attain a Michigan Liquor Control Commission license
  • Valid Driver’s License with no restriction
  • Must live in assigned market or specifically designated area
