JOB TITLE: Field Sales Representative (FSR)

LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois

POSITION TYPE: Full time with a competitive compensation structure

REPORTS TO: Sales Director

POSITION SUMMARY: As an Alter field representative you will be responsible for cultivating relationships with on and off premise retail accounts, connecting with our customers through account calls and promotional events and festivals, and supporting and motivating distribution partners with the goal of growing points of distribution and increasing brand awareness

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Positively represent Alter and our values at all times
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key retailers, bars and restaurants
  • Help educate retailers, beer servers, restaurateurs, and consumers on all aspects of Alter products, quality standards, and culture
  • Obtain orders from on and off premise customers in conjunction with distributor representatives
  • Conduct required in-field work with distributor representatives
  • Implement key brewery initiatives with distributors and on and off premise customers
  • Assist Sales Director in communicating sales data and market relevant objectives, policies, and procedures with distributor partners
  • Possess the ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedules as weekend and extended workdays are frequently necessary
  • Manage marketing materials and ensure proper and legal use of items throughout territory
  • Responsible to turn in weekly/monthly review and planning documentation in a timely manner as well as attend and contribute to all sales team meetings as requested
  • Assist in the success of volunteers or independent contractors when necessary

IMPORTANT KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES / WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of field sales experience in craft beer or related industry is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the Chicago beer market
  • Strong work ethic with consummate organizational, planning, and sales skills
  • Excellent oral, analytical, written, and group presentation communication skills
  • Possess a high level of craft beer product knowledge and an interest in continual education
  • Knowledge of draft systems and the ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Desire to invest in the development of a culture that values responsibility, accountability and integrity
  • The ability to travel locally on a regular and consistent basis
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable automobile, and be able to operate a motor vehicle safely and legally
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally move up to 160 pounds with assistance
  • Note: this is an FLSA exempt position
