Battle Street Brewery (BSB) General Manager  and Beer Ambassador:

We are looking for a resourceful General Manager and Beer Ambassador to be responsible for meeting all Battle Street Brewery customer service, product quality, revenue, profitability overall experience goals. Our GM will ensure efficient brewery operation (excluding beer production) and develop retail merchandise sales, ensure sales growth of the beer regionally, ensure quality by getting feedback from customers, and manage the staff and customer-service standards at a first-class level. Responsibilities Not Limited to:

Coordinate the entire BSB operation and develop written operating procedures for the entire business. This includes setting sales prices for all product, setting up the point of sale systems, and working with the BSB Owners and Master Brewer to develop all systems needed to successfully operate the business.

Deliver superior guest services and ensure absolute customer satisfaction for those that visit BSB location and for those that purchase and sell the beer in their establishments.

Respond efficiently to customer complaints and discuss the issues and plan for resolution with the BSB Master Brewer and BSB Owners.

Develop the merchandise sales plan.  This includes the development of the BSB merchandise sales and the fulfillment of those sales via the BSB website.

In addition, manage the develop the merchandise and sales of merchandise that will be sold at the BSB location. This will include the creation of the merchandise, review and approval of the merchandise by the BSB owners, and the sales and profitability of the merchandise.

Organize scheduling, payroll, and other HR functions of the position with the startup of the BSB.

Appraise personnel’s performance and provide feedback to keep them upbeat and productive for the customers, The goal is to be new and different than everything in the local area and the staff will be the defining difference to BSB. Each BSB employee will be an ambassador of the beer and the culture of the company.

Estimate consumption, forecast requirements and maintain inventory to assist the Master Brewer with efficient production.

Monitor compliance with sanitation and safety rules and regulations to ensure that BSB remains compliant with all laws and requirements of the authorities having jurisdiction over BSB.

Control costs and minimize waste for all operations of BSB. This includes energy management and utilities, and product losses.

Successfully promote and publicize the brand via creative events and active social media campaigns. This will be a major function of the star up to BSB.  As GM, the marketing and associated costs to market will be a major part of the success of BSB and the costs are an investment that the GM must justify and show growth that is tied to that investment.

Ensure that social media and marketing is appropriate, professional, classy and routinely updated. Ensure that ALL social media platforms are used as mentioned: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram must all be utilized and must never sit idle for more than (10) calendar days.

Develop and maintain a facility maintenance plan to keep BSB looking as perfect as possible.  This includes doing routine inspections for damage, wear and tear or construction defects that must be addressed. Ensure that repairs are made in a timely manner and that they do not go unaddressed for long periods of time which take away from the experience of BSB.

Ensure that the ensure facility is kept clean and ready for customers at all times. Develop a routine cleaning procedure that includes the brewing facility as required by the health department, and the tasting rooms and operations rooms.

Keep the facility organized and uncluttered, in the areas seen by the customers and the areas only seen by the staff.  Organize supplies and storage areas to be readily accessible and efficient. Ensure all unused materials are discarded and keep all areas free of boxes and other stored materials to the fullest extent possible.

Nurture a positive working environment and lead by example Monitor operations and initiate corrective actions as the GM of the organization accountable to the BSB owners.

Requirements and Desired Experience:

Proven working experience at the management level preferable with start-up experience.

Demonstrated experience in customer service management.

Wine and beer knowledge—knowledge of Livingston County area is a plus

Computer literacy, social media literacy and familiarity with point of sale software and corresponding accounting systems

Strong leadership, motivational and people skills especially in small town environments.

Acute financial management skills for small business and start-up business.

Not required, but a degree in Business Management, Hospitality, or other related field is preferred along with previous experience.

Ability to work in cooperation with the BSB master brewer and BSB Owners with an understanding of the history of the project and the renovation of the facility.

Ability to become Cicerone Certified and achieve at least Level 3 / Advanced within (1) year of hire date.
