Morgan Territory Brewing (MTB), of Tracy, California is seeking a Brand Manager that can expand our geographic reach, while establishing MTB’s reputation as an elite craft brewer in any territory in which it competes.  The successful candidate will be an integral part of MTB’s management team, with ample opportunity to grow and develop professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Distribution - The primary responsibility is to enhance MTB’s brand image, and to manage sales growth via distribution.  The Sales Manager will function as the primary contact between MTB and distributors, and will also manage MTB’s self-distribution efforts.
    • Select, plan, and coordinate the entering of new markets.  Recommend new distributors to expand MTB geographic reach, and negotiate acceptable contracts as necessary.
    • Conduct distributor and account training and education related to MTB offerings via “ride-alongs”, pint nights, tap takeovers, etc.
    • Track and monitor progress in all accounts and territories.  Increase brand visibility and pull-through rates within current accounts.
    • Ensure (in conjunction with distributors) that accounts have proper beer supply, tap handles, and related promotional collateral.
    • Track MTB warehouse inventory and communicate same to distributors.
    • Manage shelf life (in conjunction with distributors) of all retail product.
  • Marketing
    • Create beer descriptions for all beer produced for the taproom and for distribution.
    • Create individual beer cut sheets with a common look and feel for distributors, customers, and for use at beer fests.
    • Create comprehensive beer catalogue for distributors and customers.
    • Make the business case for, design, and/or order MTB swag for distributors and customers.
    • Develop Facebook posts for all significant events.
    • Communicate all new releases to distributors and customers.
    • Select Beer Fests in which MTB participates, taking into primary consideration how such events will enhance MTB brand recognition within our existing geographic reach. 
    • Participate in Beer Fests –organize, arrange for staffing, jockey boxes, promotional material, and signage.
    • Organize and conduct customer on-premise tastings, pint nights, beer dinners, and other relevant account support activities.
  • Planning / Reporting
    • Maintain MTB’s Customer Relationship Management system – contacts, customers, event calendar, account interactions, and market intelligence.  Summarize activity – e.g., new accounts, product feedback, strategies going forward, and performance relative to sales forecasts in weekly management team meetings.
    • Develop a comprehensive sales forecast for MTB for each market and amend forecast as information/insight is gleaned.
    • Access and analyze distributor reports to gain insight into market penetration, top customers, top sellers, and market reception to new offerings. At a macro level identify which styles are moving by geographic region.
  • Qualifications

  • Experience
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Passion for, and knowledge of craft beer – styles, judging criteria, what’s hot, etc.
    • Knowledge of the beer industry - competition strengths and weaknesses; sales and marketing standards, etc.
    • Experience in working with and/or for beer distributors in a sales capacity.
    • Experience in planning and executing marketing campaigns.
  • Skills
    • High-level written and communication skills
    • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office software – especially Excel.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Personal Attributes
    • A team player with a readiness to communicate often and effectively as part of MTB’s management group.
    • Self-motivated, with significant career and financial ambition
  • Other
    • Candidates must have a clean driving record, comprehensive auto insurance, and a reliable source of transportation.
    • Candidate must reside within the East Bay or Central Valley or be willing to move there.
  • While relevant experience is desirable, the personal attributes noted above are equally important.
