Job Description

Job Title: Brewer II

Departement: Production

Reports To: Brewer III

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Responsible for independently running the brew house with the objective of producing a consistent, quality packaged beer while maintaining sanitary and safe working conditions by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains sanitary working conditions. *
  • Cleans brewing vessels. *
  • Mills grain.*
  • Mashes in.*
  • Lauters.*
  • Manage boils. *
  • Transfers wort to fermenter. *
  • Calculates required amount of yeast and pitches yeast. *
  • Dry hops fermenting beer when necessary. *
  • 10.  Responsible for packaging beer into various formats such as bottle, cans and kegs.*

    11.  Handles chemicals safely.*

    12.  Follows instructions accurately.*

    13.  Develops recipes and pilot batching.*

    14.  Cleans fermentation and brite beer tanks.

    15.  Picks packaged products for delivery and wholesaler pickup.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
