Students from Southwestern College’s Fermentation Science Program have collaborated with NOVO Brazil Brewing Company to create Tzunúm, an Australian Pale Ale that is available on draft only at the brewery’s Imperial Beach location.

Last month, San Diego’s Novo Brazil Brewing was named the winner of Startup Brewery Challenge 9, held during the Brewbound Session conference in Santa Monica, California. But the business pitch competition – which gives entrepreneurs four minutes to showcase their brands for a chance to win $5,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Portland, Oregon – also featured four other emerging brands.

Chula Vista, California-based Novo Brazil Brewing was named the winner of Startup Brewery Challenge 9, a business pitch competition sponsored by Craft Brew Alliance. Held during Wednesday’s Brewbound Session conference in Santa Monica, California, the competition featured five brewery entrepreneurs, who were given four minutes to showcase their beers and business plans in front of a panel of industry judges.
