Anheuser-Busch Announces Advertising Lineup For Super Bowl 50

Anheuser-Busch announced today that it will return to the Super Bowl as the exclusive category advertiser for the 28th year in a row. On Sunday, Feb. 7, the brewer will use the world’s most prominent advertising stage to spotlight Super Bowl veterans Budweiser and Bud Light, along with first-time Super Bowl advertiser Shock Top and returning Super Bowl advertiser Michelob ULTRA.

MegaBrew Arrives: A-B InBev and SABMiller Reach $106 Billion Takeover Agreement

After nearly two months of negotiations, extensions and industry speculation, global brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev said Wednesday that it had reached a formal agreement to acquire its largest competitor, London-based SABMiller, in deal valued at approximately $106 billion. As part of the deal, dubbed MegaBrew, and in effort to appease U.S. antitrust regulators, the Belgium-based A-B InBev will divest its interest in MillerCoors, a joint venture between SABMiller and Molson Coors. Molson Coors will purchase the remaining 58 percent stake of MillerCoors that it did not already own for $12 billion.

Last Friday, Josh Noel and Paul Sullivan of The Chicago Tribune reported that the Cubs made Anheuser-Busch (A-B) their exclusive beer sponsor in 2014 and beyond. The Cubs also plan to install a 650-square-foot Budweiser sign in the right-field bleachers.

“That’s bad new for Old Style,” Noel and Sullivan write, “which has had an affiliation with the team for more than 60 years, as well as for Wrigleyville rooftop owners.”

ST. LOUIS — Budweiser has launched its first-ever Twitter account —www.twitter.com/budweiser. The account went live last night. The iconic brand marked the occasion with another “first” involving the Budweiser Clydesdales — tweeting the first photo of a member of the elite ”Budweiser Clydesdales Class of 2013,” a beautiful 150-pound baby born the morning of Jan. 16. It was the brand’s first-ever Tweet.
