6/12/2020 -- Golden Colorado Breweries Release Beer to Support Brewers Guild

OFFICIAL BREWERY EVENT FROM Over Yonder Brewing Company

Breweries Collaborate on Golden Strong Ale To Benefit the Colorado Brewers Guild and Community

The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG) Collaboration Fest was canceled this year, but that didn’t stop breweries in Golden from banding together to support CBG and the Golden Community.

Before the stay-at-home order took effect, breweries collaborated on recipe development and convened for a brew day at Over Yonder Brewing Company.

Aptly named, this beer is a Belgian Golden Strong Ale, a nod to the small but mighty community of Golden and the larger craft beer community in Colorado.

Participating breweries included Over Yonder Brewing Company, Holidaily Brewing Company, New Terrain Brewing Company (who donated the canning materials), Ohm Brewing Company, Barrels & Bottles Brewery, AC Golden Brewing Company (who donated the local grain from Root Shoot Malting and locally grown hops), Cannonball Creek Brewing Company, Golden City Brewing (who was able to get can labels donated by Lightning Labels), Mountain Toad Brewing, and CODA Brewing Company.

In addition to the breweries involved, other local businesses participated. Golden company Propagate Lab supplied the yeast. CODI manufacturing, also housed in Golden, donated mobile-canning to fill cans for packaging the beer.
This beer will be released on Friday June 12th in 16 ounce specialty designed cans in participating breweries’ taprooms (with the exceptions of Holidaily Brewing Co. and AC Golden).

The majority of the proceeds - 70% - will go to CBG, while 20% will be given to Golden cause of the breweries’ choice to help those struggling due to COVID-19 and the remaining 10% will go back to the participating Golden breweries to help keep the lights on.

“The Brewers Guild does so much to support Colorado breweries,” said Over Yonder Co-founder Ashleigh Bilodeaux. “They lost out on two major fundraising events due to COVID-19, and it was an obvious choice to give back to them with this collaboration.”

At 9.7% ABV, Golden Strong Ale has a bold flavor with peppery notes of spices, pear, and banana. The liberal use of hops gives this beer a fruity champagne-like flavor balanced by a malty backbone and a dry finish.

"Golden has a surprisingly large and active brewery community," said Alan Windhausen, Head Brewer for Holidaily. "We’ve come together for pints and collaborations in the past, but this has been especially wonderful to see this Collaboration Fest brew turn into a city-wide project to support our beer family.”
