An educational seminar on the most important ingredient in beer: Fresh Water.

Fermenta Michigan’s spring educational seminar will allow participants to learn more about the importance of water in production processes. FRESH WATER. GREAT TASTE is on Sunday, June 2, at Lansing Brewing Company, from 12-4 p.m. Speakers from government, brewing, and distilling entities, as well as waste water experts will be featured during a four-hour summit on the most important ingredient of any fermented beverage.

Speakers include:
Representative Sheryl Kennedy, Michigan’s 48th District. Rep. Kennedy will discuss PFAS and its effects on water quality in Michigan.

Alyssa Hughes, from Ann Arbor Distilling, will give a hands-on demonstration of water use in distilling and spirits.

Jason Caya, from Tenacity Brewing Company, will speak about navigating the Flint water crisis as a Flint-based brewery.

Tyler Glaze, Quality Director of Shorts Brewing, will speak about the importance of water types and brewing.

Annie Weidert, Regional Manager for the Americas for BioGill, will discuss wastewater solutions.

Rudy Othmer of Enereco will discuss water characteristics and brewery applications.

There will be a question and answer period after all presentations.

Fermenta is a 501c 3 non-profit, initiated by Michigan women, committed to diversity, camaraderie, networking, and education within the fermented craft beverage and food industries. There will be a 50/50 raffle held during the event. All proceeds go to Fermenta’s scholarship fund.
